Bring your Talent and Skills to Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) Technical Information Team. We are seeking a recent college graduate to work as a Technical Editor / Writer I at our Burlington, MA location.

This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with well-developed written and verbal communication skills to begin a career in the aerospace-defense engineering environment supporting state-of-the art technology through development of hardware and software technical documentation for end-user operator installation, assembly, maintenance manuals and training materials.

The individual will work with other technical writers, logistic support personnel and systems engineering organizations to collect and document systems architecture, and develop applicable support technical manuals and training documentation. This will be completed in accordance with defined standards and contractual requirements for a variety of complex equipment.

Key Responsibilities for the Qualified Candidate Include:

  • Developing simplified theory of operation and block diagrams for electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment
  • Developing fault isolation and troubleshooting procedures for electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment
  • Writing repair procedures
  • Writing removal and installation procedures
  • Working with technical illustrator personnel in support of publication effort
  • Working with desktop publishing personnel in support of publication effort
  • Interfacing with customer engineering personnel to work out solutions to problems
  • We are looking for someone who is an organized self-starter, team player, has communication and technical skills, and can professionally interact with other organizations.

Security Clearance & Other Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrate an aptitude in developing technical documentation and technical writing
  • Superior verbal and writing skills
  • Understanding or willingness to learn hardware or software engineering principles
  • The ability to read, understand and interpret engineering documentation
  • Basic knowledge in the preparation, editing and grammar
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software products including Word
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally for business purposes.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience developing and writing technical documentation
  • Experience with military systems and/or technical manual standards
  • Military training or technical manual product development and delivery background
  • Working knowledge of ETMs, IETMs, S1000D, SGML and XML is preferred
  • Familiarity with modeling, animation and CAD tools such as Pro-Engineer, AutoCAD, Right Hemisphere and Solid Works
  • Certificate in technical writing or equivalent is a plus

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent engineering degree or a closely related field obtained within the past 18 months. A GPA of 3.0 + is strongly desired. Please include your GPA and transcript with your resume.
