The Raytheon Intelligence and Space System Specialty Engineering Directorate is made up of several engineering disciplines whose main objective is to influence product design early in their life cycle to ensure effective operation, reliability, maintainability, testability, safety, and economical ownership by the customer and end user. We have a need for a Specialty Engineer for our Secure Sensor Solutions and Space Systems mission area based in El Segundo, CA.
The Specialty Engineer responsibilities include:
- Perform Specialty Engineering activities through multiple program phases - including proposal, development, integration/test, and production.
- Generate Specialty Engineering plans, analyses, reports, demonstrations, and tests within assigned budget / schedule objectives while achieving company, customer, and governmental agency objectives
- Conduct technical reliability, maintainability, testability, safety, and affordability evaluations of engineering designs to verify formal specification requirements and overall supportability. Analytical work products include Reliability and Maintainability Predictions Report, Built-in-Test Fault Detection / Fault Isolation Report, Safety Assessment Report, and Affordability Assessment Report
- Conduct Failure Reporting and Corrective Action (FRACA) activities, generate formal failure reporting documentation, and conduct reliability growth testing
- Effectively communicate, both written and orally, with a diverse group of people including program management, engineering staff, suppliers, and customers
- Represent Specialty Engineering in technical meetings and program reviews
Required Skills:
- 6 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering (MS/MA or PhD degrees may substitute 2 or 4 years of work experience, respectively)
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in one or more of the following Specialty Engineering disciplines: Reliability, Maintainability/Testability, or System Safety
- Experience performing stress-based reliability predictions, FMEA, and performing failure root cause and corrective action (FRACA)
- Strong organization, problem solving, time management and communications skills; detailed oriented. This includes, but is not limited to, the ability to effectively coordinate multiple resources, work in a fast paced environment under limited supervision
- U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date
Desired Skills:
- Active DOD Secret, Top Secret, or SCI clearance
- Experience managing the development of engineering proposals, including Basis of Estimate (BOE) generation and technical volume authoring
- Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) / Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience
- Testability requirements, modeling/analysis, and/or BIT architecture
- System Safety, including the generation of Hazard Analysis Reports
- Design-To-Cost (DTC) and Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analyses
Required Education:
B.S. Degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical field
