Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Sr Software Engineer to join the System Management (SM) team in Command and Control and Battlefield Radar (C2BFR) software department in Fullerton, California. The SM team adopts the best industry practice and DevOps processes to integrate COTS with existing or next-generation Command and Control systems to provide mission critical systems to our customers.

The Sr Software Engineer will be responsible for supporting multiple programs and multiple platforms within a software product line. The Sr Software Engineer will be expected to perform as an individual contributor, working as part of a high performing team. Tasks will include, but not limited to, COTS/FOSS installation, configuration, integration, and testing; script development to automate deployment of COTS and software application build; system performance tuning; and software security and hardening.

The ability to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance is required. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

This position can be a salary grade G08 or G09 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position. The ability to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance is required.

There may be travel opportunities internationally to support system integration and testing activities.

Required Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience in software development or system administration.
  • Prior experience performing system administration, COTS install/configuration on Windows or Linux OS for mission critical systems.
  • Proficient in scripting (specifically, PowerShell and bash) development to automate COTS and software application/build install, distribution and configuration using DevOPS processes, including build documents and job aids.
  • Ability to analyze, design, configure and integrate COTS products into existing systems.
  • Ability to travel to customer site, two to three weeks each quarter, to support in-country site acceptance testing activities.

Required Education:

BS or MS with an emphasis in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Science Technology, Software Engineering, or related engineering field.

Desired Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in software development or system administration.
  • Experience in deploying COTS such as Windows Server 2010+, Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft Lync Server, NetBackup, Oracle, Systematic IRIS, McAfee, VMware, and SAP Business Objects Enterprise.
  • Knowledge of software security and hardening concepts, techniques and standards. Best industry security practices.
  • Monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum level of performance.
  • Fast learner and able to read and research COTS configuration and integration issues.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to work with minimal oversight. Must be able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Flexible to stay aligned with changing priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and COTS integration skills.
  • Strong communication skills and with prior experience in working with COTS Vendors on product road map, COTS compatibility and problem resolution.
  • Microsoft certification, i.e. Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
  • Familiarity with applications/protocols such as LDAP, OpenSSL, DHCP, DNS, NFS, SNTP/NTP, SNMP, PXE.
  • Understanding of networking protocols & concepts (TCP/UDP/USB/IP/VOIP).
  • Experience porting from one operating system to another.
  • Experience developing software in a team based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with DevOps, test automation.

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
