Job Description:
The Electronics Packaging, Materials & Process (M&P) Department of Space & Airborne Systems is seeking a Tactical Programs M&P Section Manager (SM). The section is comprised of various engineering disciplines including chemistry, physics, materials science, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities of the SM include leading a section of about 10 materials and process engineers, organizing and deploying section personnel to programs, optimizing staffing assignments to meet the cost, schedule and performance demands of multiple programs, and ensuring the quality of the work products produced by the section members. The SM serves as a communication conduit with Program Leadership and other peer SMs. The SM will team with the Department Manager (DM) in the execution of the Center and SAS Engineering goals, and will be expected to actively participate in Department meetings. Section managers will engage regularly with program IPTLs to provide schedule and EAC inputs and with the associated department/center level approvals. The SM will also support Business development by generating Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for proposals for the DM and Hardware Engineering Center Leadership. The SM will interact frequently with multi-disciplined team leads, Chief Engineers and Program Managers to ensure that team members are meeting the needs of our internal and external customers. The section manager will also be responsible for performance management, career and training development, staffing, recognition, and personnel support/management.
Responsibilities include:
Required Skills:
Minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience
Experience in materials and processes including manufacturing support
Experience with engineering design, drawings and assembly instructions
Experience with process improvement (e.g. CMMI and R6S)
Experience with program cost and schedule monitoring and reporting
Prior experience managing and leading a highly technical team.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Required Education:
BS and 10 years of experience, MS and 8 years of experience, PhD and 6 years of experience.Master’s / Ph.D degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline preferably in a materials or chemistry-related field. MS or above preferred..
