Design, implement, and support DevOps solutions for RMD Software Engineers who support our global customer programs. Develop, Refine, and shape the future technology infrastructure that will allow our Engineers to bring innovative solutions to our customer with greater speed and efficiency!
This role in RMD Information Technology is an exciting opportunity to join our growing DevOps and Classified Engineering Solutions organization as a DevOps Engineer. The primary responsibility for this position is to design, implement and support DevOps solutions for multiple programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist engineers across multiple sites/projects with development tool usage/issues and guide their usage of these tools in standard software development processes and procedures
- Create/maintain templates for JIRA dashboards and for Confluence pages
- Create/maintain management and project reports and templates with JIRA
- Establish Git repos and provision user access to GitHub/BitBucket systems
- Administer and maintain the security compliance of our tool infrastructure
- Develop fault tolerance and disaster recovery plans for our tool infrastructure
- Assist with tool administration such as user provisioning, project setup, etc.
- Provide user support, acquire operational knowledge of tools and procedures for: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub, Artifactory and Jenkins
- To provide SME support, acquire SME level knowledge of requested Atlassian add-on products
- Provide documentation of implemented DevOps environments by authoring procedures, work instructions and program profile documents
- Manage the release of upgrades and patches to the environment
- Provide guidance on software engineering infrastructure requirements
- Monitor tool utilization, performance and stability
- Consult with engineering leads on re-designing existing workflows and processes
- Research and provide recommendations on new toolchains and tools, and develop migration strategies for their use
- Provide support to legacy IBM tools program environments as needed, with the goal of transitioning the programs to a modern DevOps environment
Please note – this role requires the candidate to be able to obtain an interim Secret security clearance within 180 days. Candidates with an active US DOD Secret security clearance are strongly preferred. Except in rare cases only US Citizens are able to obtain US Security Clearances.
Capped Budget relocation is available to the selected applicant if they are eligible per company policy.
This role will be located in Woburn MA with the RMD DT DevOps team, and will require the individual to travel as needed to support programs in other RMD locations in the US. Particularly between Woburn and Tewksbury, MA
This role will be filled at either G08 or G09 Salary grade level, at the discretion of the hiring manager.
Basic Qualifications:
- 4+ years’ professional software development and support experience
- Experience working with Jenkins, including the development of efficient pipelines
- Experience working with Git (repository concepts, manipulating references and commits)
- Experience using Git, merging, branching and rebasing
- Experience as a user of Atlassian Tools: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket
- Experience in a role that provided regular technical support and assistance to a user base
- Experience using scripting (any language such as Perl, Bash, Python) in automating tasks
- Proven analytical skills and the ability to understand and troubleshoot complex tool-set problems
- Strong knowledge of Agile concepts and methodologies
- Must be able to obtain an interim Secret security clearance within 180 days
Desired Qualifications:
- 1+ years’ experience with IBM tools, especially ClearCase in an administrative or power-user role
- Software development experience with C++, C# or Java
- Experience in writing IaC (infrastructure as code) using Chef, Puppet or equivalent
- Experience scripting (Groovy, Python, or any language) in automating tasks for reporting, tool integrations or process controls, or using REST/API interfaces
- Experience establishing branch strategy for teams/projects (with any source code version tool)
- Experience with Amazon Web Services
- Understanding of code analysis tools such as Coverity
- Strong knowledge of release engineering concepts
- Working knowledge of IA tools and concepts
- Working knowledge of Cybersecurity tools and concepts
- Solid organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other technical discipline HIGHLY Desired.
- Significant applicable work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
