Design, implement, and support DevOps solutions for RMD Software Engineers who support our global customer programs. Develop, Refine, and shape the future technology infrastructure that will allow our Engineers to bring innovative solutions to our customer with greater speed and efficiency!

This critical role in RMD Information Technology is an exciting opportunity to join our growing DevOps and Classified Engineering Solutions organization as a DevOps Engineer. The primary responsibility for this position is to design, implement and support DevOps solutions for our key programs based in St. Petersburg, Florida (with possible work in nearby Largo FL as well).

Responsibilities include:

  • Leverage company best practices and capabilities to assist programs with deployment, implementation, modernization and support of DevSecOps software solutions
  • Support software tool customization and automation including development of templates, dashboards and scripts to support program needs
  • Assist engineering teams with development and support of software build/test pipeline automation and integration, optimizing for performance and scalability across both cloud and on premise computing environments
  • Maximize solution performance and reliability through proactive, automated testing and issue mitigation while minimizing impacts associated with ongoing system patching and upgrades
  • Ensure system reliability and continuity by developing and validating fault tolerance and disaster recovery plans for tool infrastructure
  • Assist engineers with tool usage and issues, leveraging standards and best practices
  • Provision new projects, software configuration repositories and user access
  • Administer and maintain the security and compliance of tooling solutions including hardening, patching and version upgrades
  • Provide documentation of implemented DevOps environments by authoring procedures, work instructions and program profile documents
  • Provide guidance on software engineering tool hardware infrastructure resource requirements
  • Monitor tool utilization, performance and stability
  • Research and provide recommendations on new solutions and capabilities, and develop migration strategies for effective adoption
  • Develop and execute tool retirement plans to enable program continuity through transition into newer solutions and technologies.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience deploying and supporting DevOps tooling and automation solutions in a business/enterprise environment
  • Experience as a user of DevOps tooling and automation solutions, with sufficient knowledge to be able to provide guidance on common tasks and operations
  • Scripting and automation experience
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex tool and system operational performance issues with services and devices spanning multiple network boundaries
  • Working familiarity with Agile concepts and methodologies
  • Experience in a technical support role with a passion for helping others
  • Highly organized with strong interpersonal and communication skills

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in an operations role of a DevOps team
  • Software development and configuration management experience
  • Experience with modern DevOps toolchains using products such as Jira, Git, Confluence, Coverity, Jenkins and IBM Rational products
  • Experience with infrastructure as code/deployment automation platforms (Ansible, Chef, Terraform, etc.)
  • Experience with deploying and supporting software and solutions within a cloud hosted environment (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with container technology (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Experience with Splunk or similar platforms for data mining, ingestion, analytics and reporting capability
  • Experience/Familiarity with IBM ClearCase and/or ClearQuest
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other technical discipline HIGHLY Desired. Other Bachelor’s degree with significant applicable technical experience will be considered.
  • Significant applicable work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree.

Please note that this role requires the candidate to be able to obtain an interim Secret clearance within 180 days. Candidates with an active US DOD Secret security clearance are strongly preferred. Except in rare cases only US Citizens are able to obtain US Security Clearances.

This role will be located on site in St. Petersburg, FL and will occasionally require on-site support for programs in Largo, FL.Capped Budget relocation is available to the selected applicant if they are eligible per company policy.

This role is being offered at either G08 or G09 Salary grade level based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and position requirements.
