Organizational Overview
The TSE Department is a Systems Engineering organization that focuses on requirements definition and development for Test Environments (TEn) and the characterization of Test Requirements for prime hardware. A TEn is defined as the total “environment” in which testing takes place. It might be as simple as cobbling together a few pieces of test equipment to perform an early bench test on prototype hardware, or it might be as elaborate as a full-up Hardware-in-the-Loop facility. Either way, requirements are needed to properly define test conditions and capabilities, but must also facilitate faster TEn development times.
TSE seeks qualified candidates willing to innovate and collaborate with other Engineering Integrated Product Teams (IPT’s) using Model Based Engineering (MBE) processes, tools, and techniques to resolve multi-faceted challenges during TEn development. Rapidly advancing technology coupled with today’s competitive industry requires new innovations in MBE architectures and TEn capability reuse. The TSE Department is solving the problems of tomorrow.
Job Description:
As a senior engineering leader and member of the TSE team, the successful candidate will lead the development of new Test Environments (TEn) for some of the most technologically advanced weapon systems in the world. The qualified candidate must be a systems thinker – able to see the “big picture” – and coordinate across all engineering teams to define, design, and document TEn capabilities and requirements with an eye towards how prime hardware should be tested at every level (component to All-Up-Round). Detailed capabilities and requirements established by the candidate are flowed to TE designers. Requirements management and traceability is crucial to leverage and apply future reuse of TEn requirements and models.
The ideal candidate must possess working knowledge of developmental test processes and test set-ups, test equipment design with transition to the factory, and verification/validation of product hardware using proven test system methodologies and techniques. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to identify and understand technology risks and system design concepts that support incremental technical maturity/risk mitigation assessments. The understanding of Technology Readiness Levels (TRL’s) and Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL’s) is a must. The successful candidate will have some knowledge of the development and use of models using Model Based Engineering (MBE) tools and techniques. Additional experience and expertise in the following areas is as a plus:
Customer Affordability:
Focus on affordability to drive well-defined test requirements and realistic parametric test limits to produce cost-effective measurement techniques.
Business Acumen:
Strong technical competency in test & evaluation; filled a key role within an IPT.
Ability to make a business case and the value proposition for technical resolution being considered.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require a U.S. Security Clearance within one year of start date.
