System Administrators collaborate with a diverse team to support fast-paced, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you are able to develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems.

This is a great opportunity for Senior IT Systems Administration with Defense industry experience. If you have had group lead/supervisor experience, and are interested in a role that may include those responsibilities, this role will present that opportunity for the right applicant. Rapid growth of “State of the Art” Radar Defense Program based in McKinney, TX requires additional IT talent to provide their expertise in developing and maintaining our onsite computing environments operating systems for our customer.

NOTE - This role will be filled at either G08 or G09 Salary grade level, based on demonstrated skills and experience, at the discretion of the hiring manager. This role may require the selected applicant (with the appropriate experience) to lead a small team of Systems Administrators assigned to the Program Area.

Leadership Capabilities for IT Systems Administrators at level G09 (Highly desired)

  • Lead a team of System Administrators on a day-to-day basis, working to establish and prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Lead an environment oriented to open communications, creative thinking, cohesive team effort and workplace trust.
  • Serves as a liaison between Program IT Leader, Section Manager and System Administrators to resolve issues and challenges.
  • Train and assist in the development of team members.
  • Build and foster healthy group dynamics.
  • Work with functional managers to obtain necessary resources to support the program requirements.
  • Serve as a focal point to communicate and resolve interface and integration issues with team.

Note on highly desired attributes: This role supports a very unique environment on a program in McKinney that is highly scientific and incorporates advanced technology concepts into the product. The role works with high level Engineers and scientists who are developing Complex Radar Systems. Specifically, we will be looking for individuals that display strong personal character traits such as strong teaming skills across organizational boundaries, influence across functional team members, and a high level of initiative/ personal drive to meet and exceed goals. The person should exhibit a high level of adaptability with the willingness to change direction rapidly as business needs dictate.

This role will include, but is not limited to tasks like the following:

  • Collaborate with partners to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions consisting of hardware and operating system technologies
  • Integrate and partner with programs to solve complex infrastructure problems
  • Assure a high level of reliability and performance through systems monitoring and infrastructure management
  • Respond to online service requests from users - Ensure server and application compliance with security and performance requirements (DFARS, RMF, NIST Cybersecurity Framework)
  • Install, Convert, and upgrade systems
  • Develop, revise, and maintain technical and operational documentation (including procedures) to continually improve our computing environments
  • Maintain and grow your technical competence in multiple areas (such as Windows, Linux, virtualization, User Authentication, DNS, NFS, system imaging/build automation)
  • Assist in developing the overall performance and capability of your technical team through mentoring and knowledge sharing
  • Potential for domestic or international travel

Please note that an active U.S. Dept. of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance is required as of day one of employment, except in rare cases, only US Citizens are eligible to obtain Security Clearances.

Required Skills:

  • Experience working with Windows operating systems, including Windows XP, 7, 10, Server 2008, 2012, 2016
  • Must have knowledge using the following technology – VMWare, VSphere, Splunk, Tenable, Ansible
  • Experience working with UNIX versions RHEL, Solaris, AIX
  • 4 years minimum total professional experience as an IT professional.
  • Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Management.
  • Experience with data storage (NetApp, Nutanix, Rubrik, etc.) and data backup technologies
  • Must possess an active US DoD Secret Security Clearance, except in rare cases, only US Citizens are eligible to obtain US Security Clearances
  • Security+ certification or willingness to obtain within 1 year of employment.

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Horizon, Rubrik, and Steele Cloud (Highly Desired)
  • Working knowledge of Synergy servers
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins servers
  • Working knowledge of application development tools
  • Working knowledge of virtual computing technologies
  • Working knowledge of thin client technologies
  • Working knowledge of operating system provisioning – Cobbler, Ghost, MS MDT
  • Working knowledge of system update management – WSUS, SCCM, Chef, Puppet, Yum
  • Working knowledge of computer system monitoring – Nagios, Retina, etc.
  • Working knowledge of compliance assessment tools – ACAS, Nessus
  • Working knowledge of unified OS account management technologies – Centrify
  • Working knowledge of Host-Based Security System (HBSS)
  • Good understanding of fundamental TCP/IP concepts
  • Scripting / programming experience

Required Education (including Major):

  • BS/BA Science Degree in Computer Science or a related field; OR Significant directly applicable Engineering, Computer or Information Science applicable professional experience in lieu of a BS will be considered at the hiring manager's discretion.
