Sr. Principal Systems Engineer

The X-Lab is a very fast paced and dynamic environment. The X-Lab is responsible for developing future-looking prototypes for the Ballistic Missile Defense System including Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development and other critical leading edge missile defense technologies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the software development in the X-Lab including conducting peer reviews, ensuring software processes are followed, ensuring common tools are effectively used, and maintaining the high standards of X-Lab software
- Act as a resource to other X-Lab Software Engineers for ideas, troubleshooting, etc.
- Work as a member of the X-Lab software development team to develop and test innovative solutions in support of X-Lab projects and experiments.
Skills Required:
- Substantial understanding of system software design and development, Java development, Object-Oriented development patterns, principles and implementation, Service Oriented Architecture development principles and implementation, and Agile development processes
- Ability to develop Java software, and translate requirements into software design
- Ability to refactor code for reusability, readability, and maintainability in an object-oriented codebase
- Ability to understand and decompose requirements to support verification and validation testing of software components
- Ability to generate detailed, repeatable test procedures
- Ability to extract data to support analysis requirements
- Ability to generate procedures that test functionality
- Ability to perform, and knowledge of, Agile Development
- Possess 10 or more years of experience in a related engineering environment, with experience and expertise in object-oriented software development and testing
- Ability to analyze high level needs and through a structured and logical approach refine the need into an integrated set of requirements that leads to a fielded product
- Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project
- Proven interaction in the X-Lab team environment
Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Math, Science, and Engineering or related with 10 years’ experience. Additional experience may be used in lieu of a degree. Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
- Minimum requirements of DOD 8570 IAT III certification (CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH).
Other:
- Primary work location is the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC) at Schriever AFB, CO. Active Secret Clearance is required.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment
