Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RIS) is the provider of Advanced Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar sensor systems for the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18 Aircraft and Air Force’s F/A-15 Aircraft. The Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) organization is seeking committed engineers who are passionate about creating innovative and cost-effective solutions for the warfighter.
The Tactical Radar Systems Department within SEIT supports the development of new capabilities for the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18 APG-79 radar systems as well as development of Next-Generation Radar Systems for the US Government. The ideal candidate will be a Systems Engineer with experience in the development and delivery of radar systems and technologies. Applicants are expected to be self-motivated, detail oriented and have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team through strong written and verbal communication skills.
The Systems Engineer will frequently work with a diverse group of Software Engineers, Systems Engineers and RF Subject Matter Experts and must be comfortable working either independently or as part of an integrated development team. Under the oversight of SEIT Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership and functional management, applicants will have the opportunity to lead small groups in development, integration testing and requirements verification.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform the duties of Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) and take ownership of system design, test, and analysis
- Lead a team of engineers
- Support the development of mathematical algorithms for mode/sensor implementation
- Support design and development of radar waveforms for imaging, target search, track and identification
- Perform computer modeling and simulation of sensor physics and phenomenology
- Produce performance predictions and perform analysis of data received from radars on various airborne platforms to support predictions.
- Interface with the software and verification teams to resolve technical issues during the integration and testing phases.
- Ensure design and architecture meet customer requirements
- Participate in technical peer reviews throughout the product lifecycle of design, development, integration and test, and flight test requirements verification.
- Interface with the team lead, team members, and other teams (SW and HW) on a daily basis
- Conduct or participate in customer and/or program technical review presentations
- Provide task progress updates and work products to the team lead
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years related work experience with BS degree or 8 years with MS degree
- Experience in design and development of radar modes for AESA systems and/or developing radar analysis tools and performing analysis
- Experience running RF simulation testing and conducting detailed troubleshooting
- Experience programming in Matlab, C++, Python, etc.
- Experience leading mid-sized to large teams in radar system design, integration, verification or validation activities
- Must have the ability to obtain (Interim or Final) DoD Secret clearance prior to start date
- Must have the ability to obtain a Top Secret and/or SSBI/Special Access clearance
- U.S. Citizenship is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance on day one of employment
Desired Skills:
- Experience with APG-79/82 radars
- Experience writing system and software requirements and managing requirements using DOORS
- Track and/or Resource Management experience
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP) knowledge
- Experience developing Mission & CONOPS analysis and system architecture
- Data reduction and data analysis skills
- Experience performing system level troubleshooting
- Strong mathematical skills, including linear algebra and probability theory
- Experience in preparing and executing integration, verification, and validation activities
- Understanding of the software build process
- Understanding of test automation and flight testing
- Ability to work in a high paced, high demand laboratory shift environment
- Experience with financial management, such as a past role as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead or Cost Account Manager (CAM)
- Six Sigma practical knowledge and/or project experience (formal Six Sigma training/certification preferred)
- Active Top Secret clearance and/or SSBI/Special Access clearance
Required Education: BS Degree in Engineering, Math, Science, or related technical discipline
Desired Education: MS Degree or PhD in Engineering, Math, Science, or related technical discipline
