The Role:

As an engineer on the developer tools team at Ticketmaster, you’ll be involved in managing and supporting a catalog of tools our development teams depend on everyday to do their jobs efficiently. We’re looking for an engineer with a passion for tooling, CI/CD and observability, who will use their expertise in these areas to provide robust and mature solutions to a wide range of software engineers.

Ideally, we would like a candidate to be either in Chantilly, VA, Scottsdale, AZ or Hollywood, CA location. However, option for 100% remote is a possibility for the right candidate as our team is distributed.

What the job is:

  • Maintain and support existing tools used by development teams.
  • Develop tools to support best practices in application lifecycle management.
  • Assist development teams with detecting and resolving CI/CD pipeline problems.
  • Assist development teams with detecting and resolving observability problems.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for CI/CD and observability
  • Participate in previews and trials of new tools.
  • Collaborate with development teams on tool usage and best practices.
  • Collaborate with developer advocates on improving developer experience.
  • Develop tools and processes to assist with migrations from legacy systems.
  • Documentation of tools and processes.
  • A focus on security, reliability, compliance, and scalability in all designs and solutions.
  • Participate in team on-call rotation.

What a qualified candidate should possess:

  • 3+ years direct experience with observability tools and concepts.
  • 3+ years direct experience with CI/CD tools and concepts.
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Proficiency with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, and Splunk.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, and Jenkins.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Go or Java.
  • Proficiency configuring and troubleshooting applications on Linux.
  • Proficiency building and deploying containerized applications.
  • Proficiency with container orchestration and deployment technologies such as Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Understanding of network and infrastructure fundamentals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • A passion for learning.

Not required, but would love to see:

  • Competency with the Java ecosystem such the JVM, Maven, and Spring.
  • Competency with AWS services such as EC2, ELB, ALB, ASG, API GW, and Route53.
  • Competency with secrets management tools such as Hashicorp Vault.
  • Familiarity with PCI Security Standards.
