ERM is seeking an experienced REACH professional with skills in socio-economic analysis / analysis of alternatives or safety data sheet authoring /hazard communication to join our Product Stewardship team as a Principal Consultant in Spain (Madrid / Barcelona).

ERM has a very well established Product Stewardship team that is globally connected and focused on assisting our clients to responsibly manage the health, safety, and environmental aspects of raw materials, intermediate, and consumer products throughout their lifecycle and across their value chain. This team delivers critical regulatory and technical support to clients operating across industry, but especially in the Chemicals, Crop Protection and Biocides sectors. We advise clients on how to address challenges throughout the life cycle of their products and across their supply chains.

Role profile

The Principal or Senior Consultant will play a key role in client relationship development as well as project delivery and management. Main responsibilities are (not limited to):

  • Provide technical knowledge and expertise in the fields of:
  • global registration / approval / REACH
  • classification and labelling of industrial chemical substances, Safety data sheet authoring / hazard communication
  • Industrial hygiene / exposure assessment
  • socio-economic analysis,
  • Analysis of alternatives / chemical engineering;
  • biocides and agrochemical products
  • Act as an adviser to our clients (both national and global MNC’s) on all relevant technical and regulatory product issues; the consultants will also plan and conduct workshops in close cooperation with the client
  • Actively involved in client relationship development through project discussions and demonstrating credibility
  • Support the business development activities and proposal writing
  • Help the junior consultants to develop their skills

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested to work with multi-disciplinary team as the consultants will also be working closely with other ERM teams such as Information Solutions and Health & Safety audit and so on.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate would be a highly client focused individual who enjoys delivering solutions for regulatory related challenges. You would be a self-starter who can work autonomously and communicate effectively in English as well as Italian. Personal development is important and the ideal candidate will be someone who takes initiative to identify areas of own professional development. This role will require some travel and flexibility.

Additional skill and experience requirement

  • A Master Degree or a PhD in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety Technology, Biology/Toxicology or other relevant discipline
  • Relevant prior experience (6-8 years) in the field of Product Stewardship/Safety, Regulatory Affairs or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant international and European legislations e.g. REACH, BPR as well as in EHS, Lifecycle Management, Toxicology, CLP/GHS.
  • Prior experience in the consulting business, project management and customer training preferred
  • Prior people management experience would be beneficial
