Environmental Resources Management, Inc. (ERM) is currently hiring multiple field biologists to conduct biological monitoring for projects in Arizona and New Mexico. We are seeking eager professional biologists to monitor for various species starting in April 2020 and continuing through the year, with potential for the work to extend into 2021. Successful candidates will possess technical skills, as well as, strong organizational and communication skills. Field crews will work 6 days per week and must be able to maintain a positive attitude while working long hours outdoors in variable weather and terrain. Field crews will conduct fieldwork in a safe manner in alignment with ERM and client’s safety expectations. Pay is commensurate with experience. Per Diem and/or expenses and overtime are included.
Duties include:
- Monitoring efforts include any combination of avian surveys, aquatic species surveys, snake monitoring, and plant surveys;
- Electronic data collection;
- Handheld and sub-meter accurate GPS data collection;
- Daily reporting and survey report compilation;
- Coordinating with project managers and resource specialists;
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two seasons of biological field experience;
- B.S. degree in natural science field of study preferred;
- Working knowledge of, and ability to identify, plant, wildlife, and/or aquatic species in NM and AZ preferred;
- Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain;
- Ability to work weekends and over 40 hours per week;
- Candidates who can commit to a minimum of three months are preferred;
- Desire to work in the field for extended periods of time, and maintain a positive and professional attitude;
- Willingness and ability to travel when needed;
- Strong communication and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated independent and effective problem solving and decision making;
- Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record; and
- Drug testing will be required.
