£41,526 - £49,553 per annum. Potential to progress to £55,750 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.

Summary:

Applications are encouraged for a Lecturer in Electron Microscopy (EM) in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Sheffield. The department was ranked 1st in biomedical sciences and =5th in biological sciences in the U.K. in the last national census (REF2014).

This is an outstanding opportunity for an electron microscopist to join and make a critical contribution to research at The University of Sheffield. We are seeking individuals who can lead high quality independent, and collaborative, research programmes and also shape the wider research area in Sheffield. We are seeking extremely high quality individuals, with an established research programme and relevant expertise in biological cryo-electron microscopy. We are looking for an established track record of achievement in molecular and/or cellular CryoEM to complement current CryoEM activities in Sheffield. Experience in high resolution single particle CryoEM structure determination and/or cryo-electron tomography of biomolecular or cellular systems is essential. A willingness to engage with management of our CryoEM and computing facilities would be an advantage.

You will need a PhD in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience) and a track record of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals. Expertise and track record in advanced electron cryomicroscopy of cellular and/or biomolecular samples at the nanoscale is essential along with effective communication skills.
