Job Description:
The Senior Network Security Engineer will participate in the research, analysis, design, implementation, development, testing, and troubleshooting of cybersecurity solutions for multiple software offerings. This person will assume a lead role in developing and designing cybersecurity enhancements to existing and future software products in a highly collaborative Agile development atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with software development team by identifying security risks and the appropriate controls for hack-proof network operation enhancements
- Present solutions, security best practices, and interact with clients at industry events and technical conferences
- Assist resources in designing, implementing and supporting security-focused tools and services
- Assist in providing subject matter expertise and technology support for all project and application related information security needs and security compliance efforts
- Participate in developing training materials for security awareness and specific security technology training for our external customers
- Have and continue to develop an in-depth understanding of the larger threat landscape
- Understand, advocate, and support IT security strategies
- Work collaboratively within an Agile Team to write high quality, testable code that meets the Definition of Done:
- Meet team iteration commitments
- Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers
- Develop and utilize automation to ensure consistency and reliability
- Actively participate in test plan reviews
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, or Computer Programming
- 5-10 years relevant work experience - Information Technology and Information Security as Security Engineer or Application Architect with security knowledge and skill
Preferred Qualifications
- Detailed knowledge of common networking protocols and encryption services and how these serve the elevated security structure of a network
- Knowledge of data classification and its impact on the security design of networking solutions
- Hands-on implementation experience deploying security solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection, access controls, etc.
- Experience with security policy development and impact upon data networking infrastructure planning and deployment
- Practical hands-on experience with penetration testing, hacking forensics, and threat detection
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience providing engineering and security standards development and support for large-scale complex data networks
- Recognized industry cybersecurity and network engineering certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, CRISC, CHFI, COMP TIA Security+, etc.)
- Understanding of security auditing practices for network infrastructures
- Experience with JAVA, JavaScript, RESTful API is highly desired
- Experience with DevOps and Continuous integration tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Python
- IBM SMP/E experience
- Source control administration
- Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
- Mainframe background
- Experience gathering and documenting requirements from different business units, stakeholders and engineering teams – Corporate navigation
