Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, this senior management-level, cross-functional, channel and leadership role, leads the definition and execution of the organization’s approach to marketing analytics and competitive strategy within the global marketing teams. Working closely with the regional sales and marketing teams, portfolio, R&D, corporate communications and business development, this position is responsible for the short and long-term definition of the global strategies:

Market and competitive sensing & response Analytics

  • This leader will be responsible for ensuring that the marketing organization adopts a data-based approach to definition and execution of strategic and commercial decisions. This role will play a critical effort in shaping and executing the growth agenda through leveraging subject matter expertise in Information Management, Analytics and Data Strategy. This person will also coach and develop competition and marketing analytics teams in order to develop and maintain key talent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Market and Competitive Sensing & Response

  • Develop market sensing team through internal and external resources to add value through analysis and insights to inform business strategy and execution, including collaborating on analytical methodologies for conjoint analysis, discrete choice analysis, quantitative message testing, product positioning, and segmentation using both primary market research data, sales execution data and secondary physician/patient data
  • Responsible for the definition and execution of the global competitive intelligence and response strategy through the recruitment and development of a CI/CA team
  • Develop a deep competitive expertise to understand the strategic and tactical requirements associated with competitive changes in the Ortho, GP and Consumer channels
  • Co-ordinate the management of the Early Warning System (EWS) team and their associated actions
  • Create a range of market sensing approaches to provide leading indicators of future trends
  • Connect competitive research and analytics together to tell a compelling and persuasive story and deliver clear and actionable recommendations

Analytics

  • Develop, evaluate, and deploy analytical tools and data science techniques to analyze large data sets and develop custom models/algorithms to uncover trends, patterns and insights in the data.
  • Design, architect, implement, and support key datasets from a variety of providers and sources that provide structured and timely access to actionable business information
  • Assess and understand all key structured and unstructured data sources across the enterprise
  • Accountable for leading market analytics and recommendations, coordinating all relevant Customer Analytics resources to deliver robust solutions to business issues
  • Collaborate with marketing leadership to develop strategy, benchmarks, goals, and KPIs throughout the entire marketing funnel from awareness to purchase

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Results-driven and customer focused with a high sense of accountability
  • Highly strategic, analytical and innovative problem solver with a demonstrated ability to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Proven track record in analytics, sales and/or product marketing, with experience of building and leading high-performance teams
  • Strong experience in analytics tools and BI tools (Cognos BI, Tableau)
  • Proven experience in data strategy and enterprise data governance
  • Ability to lead and manage people/teams, including developing roles and responsibilities, objectives, and coaching/development plans.
  • Strong leadership skills – leading and influencing without direct authority
  • Excellent communication and organization skills and ability to collect and synthesize complex information and present recommendations in a clear, concise manner
  • Ability to drive and lead cross-functional collaboration and teams (marketing and cross-functional) at all levels of the organization
  • Possess a global mind-set and can adjust quickly to change
  • Strong understanding of product commercialization processes
  • Driven, self-starter, highly motivated and confident

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BS or BA or equivalent experience required, MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years working in a leadership role managing direct reports
  • 15+ years relevant experience including working in product development organizations, with demonstrated successful launches as well as product improvements
  • Experience managing product roadmaps, including working cross functionally to align priorities, resources and timing
  • Experience of running competitive teams preferable
  • Experience in medical device or dental product development preferred

WORK SCHEDULE / HOURS

Regular business hours with extensive international travel. Based in San Jose.
