Quality Compliance Manager
The Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Manager is a corporate position providing leadership in the specific areas of labeling, manufacturing and distribution permits, export and operational compliance to support all facilities. The manager will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining systems to ensure customer, consumer and regulatory requirements are met. This position develops and implements compliance initiatives essential to the success and growth of the company.
Essential Functions
- Manage all activities related to all plant licensing and permits to support statewide units operations. Develop and maintain procedures for timely processing of all state and federal licensing; negotiate permit conditions to ensure they are sustainable and agreed upon.
- Manage all permit violations acting as the liaison between the company and state/federal regulators.
- Manage compliance documentation, policies and procedures in an electronic data management system and ensuring compliance with all state, federal and customer requirements.
- Establish and maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and update applicable procedures and practices accordingly.
- Develop and manage the export process for all product types ensuring that products are appropriately registered in other countries and all shipments have the necessary documentation to prevent rejection or delays at customs.
- Provide regulatory review of new concept formulas to determine ingredient acceptability, product classification, and potential sales restrictions in countries of responsibility.
- Responsible for assisting in the development and execution of domestic and international regulatory strategies for new and modified products.
- Keep abreast of general and product regulatory compliance developments in countries of responsibility
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of relevant product compliance regulations, including but not limited to nutrient claims, labeling, formulation, and product registration/notification requirements for Domestic and Internationals.
- Provide support and assists in implementing strategic quality and compliance initiatives and department projects in countries of responsibility.
- Monitor competitive claims, FDA’s and FTC’s actions, litigation, and news releases to ensure our product claims meet all regulations.
- Manage and lead a compliance team of direct reports to carry out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner.
- Develop and implement strategic policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state and local regulations; help facilities develop corrective actions plans as needed.
- Provide support and training to all direct reports and other teams as needed.
- Ensure corporate and facility personnel understand all permit conditions and maintain compliance.
- Support cross-functional teams with regulatory research and recommendations.
- Develop and maintain Water Quality Reports for customer and website deployment.
- Provide regulatory guidance to customers in regards to product compliance and label claims.
- Support the Customer Quality Manager and consumer affairs team with customer inquiries.
- Develop and maintain regulatory network (formal and informal) by establishing relationship with various regulatory bodies, local consultants and legal entities within the respective countries / regions where the organization has business interests.
- Support the creation, review, approval and improvement of all labeling and advertising both internally and externally. Approve all product claims and is responsible for ensuring claim substantiation.
