Senior Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

As a subject matter expert, the Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures all equipment is running smoothly through quick in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all types of manufacturing equipment. No day is the same -- your expertise may be called on to fix an urgent issue or you may implement new ideas and modify equipment to improve efficiency. Working as a team with other technicians, machine operators, supervisors, and department managers, the Sr. Maintenance Technician will collaborate to resolve mechanical issues. Through preventative and predictive maintenance processes, the Sr. Maintenance Technician will develop and implement standard methodologies aligned with Niagara’s maintenance strategies and champion continuous improvement efforts as well as assist with training in their designated focus area.

What you would be doing as a Senior Maintenance Technician:

  • Demonstrate root-cause problem solving to identify and perform equipment repairs and improvements
  • Work directly with management to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and the resolution of reoccurring problems
  • Coach and mentor operators, technicians and other peers on maintenance and technical procedures related to high speed bottle manufacturing equipment
  • Plan, lead and execute preventative maintenance efforts to minimize equipment downtime
  • Participate in special projects on equipment upgrades or installations
  • Collaborate with your peers and team members to transfer specialist technical knowledge on Sidel, Krones, Husky or other equipment technology
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job, and being available on call may be a requirement
  • Utilize your experience with Krones, Husky, Sidel, or other packaging or bottling equipment, and lead and develop others on the functionality and repair of equipment
  • Creating process improvements or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Utilize skills in fabrication capabilities such as cutting and welding (mig, tig or stick), and work with electrical systems including 480VAC & 24VDC power
  • Read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams, and repair variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, communication systems (asi-bus, can-bus, profi-bus, ethernet), PLC input/output cards, and safety modules
  • Practice plant safety guidelines at all times and encourage your peers to practice safety all times
  • End each shift knowing you made a difference

Profile of our Senior Maintenance Technicians:

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years of work experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments and levels of the organization
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross-functional team members
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic
  • Skilled in the use of shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill and lathe, and assorted power tools
  • Proficient skills with precision measuring equipment, such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges
  • Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of plant or machine center

Preferred requirements:

  • 7 years of work experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment
  • Associate’s Degree in manufacturing, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, manufacturing automation or other similar manufacturing-related specialization
  • 4 years of experience in one of the following fields: blow molding, injection molding, packaging, or beverage
  • 4 years of experience with Krones, Husky, Sidel, or other packaging or bottling equipment
  • 1 year of experience leading and developing others on the functionality and repair of equipment
  • 2 years of experience creating process improvements or continuous improvement initiatives
