The Public Safety Applications Infrastructure and System Design Team is a group within Motorola Solutions, Inc. that provides industry leading, next generation Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Mobile Data and Public Service 911 software applications to the Public Safety and Public Service markets. No other company has the breadth and depth of technology and experience to deliver end to end public safety applications and mission critical voice and data communications systems.
The Sr. System Administrator will work with our Performance team and DevOps team to architect, run and maintain our lab environments including a private cloud infrastructure where developers and testers submit requests for VMs to be automatically fulfilled. Though not yet 100% automated, we would be looking to the candidate to help us achieve higher levels of automation in VM delivery and performance system build outs. The position will work with all platform tiers including hardware, networking, storage, virtualization and virtualization automation. Additionally, as we are moving our main product into Azure, the opportunity to lead and develop Azure deployment templates and pipelines will arise. Minimal to zero travel required, must be available to work physically in the Westminster, Colorado office.
The following skills and areas of responsibilities are desired:
Subject matter expert with Client/Server hardware and enterprise applications
Advanced troubleshooting skills (HW & SW)
High level knowledge of applications troubleshooting in an enterprise environment
Deep understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems, System Center Operations Manager, Active Directory, and SQL Server
Capable of configuring servers from both a hardware and software perspective.
Strong knowledge of virtualization (Hyper-V and VMWare), automation (Puppet, Chef, Powershell, Ansible, VRealize, etc - we are open to any preferred technology)
Strong knowledge of networking and storage (SANs)
Azure and Azure pipeline development a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent time management, ability to juggle priorities, and project follow through.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or similar degree and/or equivalent work experience along with industry standard certifications preferred
2+ years of experience with VMware
1+ years of experience with Hyper-V
1+ years of hands-on support of desktop virtualization technologies such as VMware Horizons/View, Microsoft VDI, or Citrix XenApp a plus.
2+ years supporting and administrating storage area networks (HP 3PAR and/or Nimble preferred)
3+ years supporting TCP/IP networks (switches, routers, etc.)
Ability to support and administer systems within data center environments
Any industry certifications, a plus, such as: VMware VCA-Data Center Virtualization, Microsoft MCSA, Cisco CCNA, etc.
Some Techincal Writing/Documentation experience
Specific Requirements (as many as possible):
2+ years experience as a System Administrator or System Technologist
Experience with VMware or Hyper-V
