Job Description
Individuals within this team are expected to leverage and maintain their experience based expertise in telco, telco network, IT, PBX and related telecommunication solutions enabling the troubleshooting and design consultation of our CallWorks NG911 call taking deployments.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Resolution of system/telco related support tickets escalated from level 1 or level 2 support
- Travel to deployed systems to troubleshoot system related issues
- Lead engagements as required with LEC and other telco or data service providers on behalf of our public safety customers to insure the most timely resolution.
- Represent CallWorks as a subject matter expert (SME) of all telco related interfaces of a CallWorks solution in support of providing customers with potential solution options to enhance their operational capability.
- Perform recommendations and testing of new telco interface (gateways) technology solutions to improve solution performance and reduce operational costs
- Participate in weekly on-call rotation
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years experience in telecommunication systems and networking
- Knowledge of Cat5, Cat6 and Fiber cabling including installation and troubleshooting
- Experience with SIP based communications with Asterisk
- Ability to analyze packet captures using wireshark
- Basic knowledge of Ohms Law and how resistance affects voltage
- Strong customer facing communication skills
- Strong problem solving / troubleshoot skills
- Ability and willingness to travel 50% of the time
- Former experience as a telco Field Engineer a plus
- Associates degree or combination of education and experience - preferred
Basic Requirements
- 5+ years experience in telecommunication systems and networking
- Experience with cabling including installation and troubleshooting
