What you'll do

The Performance Engineering team at Walmart Labs is focused on using the latest technology and tools to gauge the scalability and speed of our APIs. We engineer our APIs for speed, optimal resource usage on on-premise and cloud, and user experience while making them reliable and robust. Our focus is predominantly in the areas of application, infrastructure, DB and API performance tuning and optimization to enhance and improve.

As an Engineer @Walmart Labs, you’ll have the opportunity to..

• Define and implement best practices for performance engineering of large-scale Supply Chain projects
• Help application teams in scaling their applications and sizing the hardware required to meet projected load
• Work with developers in identifying improvement areas on the server side, front end and backend DBs (RDBMS and NoSQL)
• Engineer code for performance using profiling tools, dump analyzers and by various JVM optimization techniques
• Define and implement best practices for performance engineering of large-scale Supply Chain products running in on-prem, cloud and Kubernetes on cloud
• Monitor application/services in production to identify and improve latencies and optimize resource utilization
• Collect data during identified windows for processing both real-time and post test

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 2 years of experience in software engineering or related field OR 4 years of experience in software engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideally you will have…

• Working knowledge of API implementation and micro services architecture
• Understanding of Cloud architecture and building performance environment in the cloud
• Knowledge of Containers and Kubernetes
• Hands-on knowledge of JMeter tool for Performance testing
• Should have worked on Kafka, IBM MQ, ACTIVE-MQ technologies
• Good to have: Hands-on knowledge of Splunk
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
