Research and technology go hand in hand at AQR, and as an Core Engineer in Research you work will be instrumental in building the platform that helps unify these two pillars of our success. You will collaborate extensively with engineers and economic researchers as you work to enhance and evolve the technological foundation of our quantitative research platform – a crucial component of AQR’s ongoing success.

Your Role

As an Core Engineer in Research you will be a key contributor to our:

  • Research environment that supports our systematic investing and drives collaboration
  • Distributed platform for handling model performance management at scale
  • Intuitive research APIs leveraging cloud computing and cutting-edge visualizations
  • High-performance historical simulation engine for vetting new trading strategies
  • Workflow platform using services, messaging, and graph-based dependency awareness 

What You’ll Bring

  • BS or higher in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Outstanding coding, debugging, and analytical skills
  • Previous experience building large-scale, data-oriented systems.
  • An interest in quantitative finance (no finance / trading experience required)
  • Experience with Python / NumPy / pandas or similar quantitative stack is a plus
  • Demonstrated contributions to open-source software is also a plus
