Apple’s Measurement R&D group is recruiting instrumentation engineers that that are strong programmers, have a deep technical understanding of key technologies with strong communication and technical leadership skills. You will brainstorm, invent, design and develop novel metrology equipment used to calibrate and test Apple’s new groundbreaking technology and products. Your design work will range from lab scale systems — deeply understanding technology/product to develop automated mass-production measurement tools, where balancing engineering tradeoffs between accuracy, precision, costs, lead-time and throughput is critical. With great diversity of the problem space, you will rely on your engineering background to architect the optimal solution for the problem at hand, leaning on the fundamentals of the technology. You will work collaboratively with a creative and diverse team of experienced engineers from all disciplines including mechanical system design, core technology, product design and operations teams developing state-of-the-art measurement systems for Apple.
Key Qualifications
  • Required Experience
  • • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Acoustics
  • • 1+ years of professional experience
  • • Experience programming in one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective-C/Python • Experience with digital signal processing (DSP) and applications to audio test and
  • measurement
  • Preferred Skills
  • • MS or 3+ years of professional experience
  • • High volume consumer electronics manufacturing experience
  • • Experience designing scalable instrumentation and HW/SW automation • Experience working with contract manufacturers (CM)
  • • Mac OS X experience
  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Description
• Specification, development and deployment of measurement systems • Develop, optimize and debug software in C/C++/Objective-C and Python • Develop and support calibration and analysis algorithms • Specify and acquire equipment, components and tools for use in a NPI environment • Analyze large amounts of calibration and performance data • Estimated travel of up to 20% international travel
