Senior Java Backend Developer

Location: Toronto, ON (Partial Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to join a high-performing Agile development team supporting enterprise-scale applications and initiatives. This role is focused entirely on backend development, offering the opportunity to contribute immediately to active projects. The successful candidate will be a hands-on developer with strong Java expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and support enterprise backend applications.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Develop new functionality while enhancing and maintaining existing applications.
• Build and support RESTful APIs and integrations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint-based delivery.
• Perform code reviews and contribute to application design discussions.
• Support CI/CD processes and deployment activities.
• Collaborate closely with developers, QA teams, architects, and business stakeholders.
• Ensure quality, security, and compliance standards are maintained.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong experience with modern Java versions (Java 11+).
• Extensive experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
• Experience developing and supporting REST APIs.
• Familiarity with SOAP-based services.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Azure cloud experience.
• Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of DevOps practices.
• Experience providing QA support and defect resolution.
• Experience working within financial services or highly regulated environments.
• Experience deploying and supporting applications in cloud-hosted environments.

Pay Range:

$48 - $53 per hour
