AI & Data Platforms (AiDP) is IS&T's engine for AI-powered innovation. The team brings together data, application development, and machine learning — including generative AI — along with data services and customer success functions, to help IS&T build solutions more efficiently and streamline the adoption and embedding of generative AI across Apple. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Software Engineer to help build next-generation of Decision Automation Platform. Decision Automation Platform team provides backend services and infrastructure for various Machine Learning and Data Science teams to train, build, deploy and inference models at scale to prevent Fraud on multiple Apple Platforms like Apple Pay, Apple Media Products, App Store, Online Store, Retail, AppleCare and Manufacturing. In addition to preventing Fraud, this platform is responsible for driving Operations and Logistics for Online Store, AppleCare and Retail. Our team, as part of the broader AiDP Platform organization, owns the Core layer that serves as the backbone of the platform. We build highly scalable and reliable distributed systems capable of handling high-throughput traffic at scale.

Description

This is a role of a Software Engineer who has deep systems thinking to design, build and enhance scalable and highly concurrent ML/AI serving platform. Responsibilities

• You will design and implement large-scale, secure, and highly available systems, while collaborating across teams to drive the future of scalable inference platform. The mindset required and to be developed is how to process thousands of transactions per second, how to achieve the consistency without sacrificing the performance. Work with cross functional teams to drive requirements, size scope and effort, mentor junior engineers, lead the project to completion and provide support for any Production issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience
• 3+ years of Python Or Java expertise building Production Applications
• Solid understanding of concurrency, threading, multiprocessing and their practical trade-offs in high-throughput production systems
• Strong understanding of language internals and their implications in highly concurrent systems
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms
• Proficiency in profiling, optimizing, debugging applications and libraries
• Understanding of Distributed Systems to debug complex cross-platform issues and optimize performance
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or similar discipline or experience
• Fluency in English Language to communicate effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills on both technical and non-technical topic
• Deep knowledge of ML/AI frameworks and ecosystem
• Proficiency in Containerization technologies like Kubernetes and CNCF technologies
• Ability to debug and improve ML workflow tuning for high accuracy
• Knowledge of using GenAI to build solutions to improve productivity of developers, users, and business
• Works independently and drives problems to closure - from well-reasoned design proposals to deep root-cause analysis of production issues
