The Oracle CSS AI Data Platform team focuses on helping enterprises modernize legacy data estates, accelerate AI adoption, and operationalize production-grade analytics, machine learning, and Generative AI solutions. The team works closely with customer executives, architects, engineering leaders, Oracle Product Management, and Oracle Engineering to deliver scalable, secure, and governed data platforms that support enterprise-wide innovation.

Job Summary

Oracle CSS is seeking a Senior Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to lead strategic AI and data transformation programs for Oracle’s largest enterprise customers.

This is a senior customer-facing engineering leadership role responsible for architecting, modernizing, and operationalizing enterprise-scale data platforms on the Oracle AI Data Platform. The role requires a strong blend of hands-on engineering expertise, executive-level consulting, cloud data platform architecture, migration leadership, and technical mentorship.

The successful candidate will work directly with CIOs, CDOs, CTOs, chief architects, and engineering leaders to accelerate AI adoption, migrate and modernize complex data workloads, and deliver production-ready analytics and Generative AI solutions. This role will also help define reusable delivery patterns, migration accelerators, and engineering best practices that shape Oracle CSS delivery excellence globally.

Qualifications & Skills

Mandatory

• 10 to 12+ years of experience designing, delivering, and modernizing enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Proven experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Principal Solution Architect, Consulting Engineer, Professional Services technical leader, or similar senior customer-facing engineering role.
• Expert knowledge of Oracle AI Data Platform or equivalent modern cloud data platforms.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Azure, AWS, Kafka, Python, SQL, and Scala or Java.
• Deep expertise in Apache Spark architecture, configuration, optimization, tuning, distributed systems, large-scale data processing, and performance engineering.
• Demonstrated success migrating enterprise analytics platforms and refactoring Spark, ETL, and data engineering workloads from Databricks, Snowflake, Azure, AWS, or on-premises environments.
• Strong understanding of DataOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, cloud security, data governance, metadata management, lineage, and observability.
• Experience designing lakehouse, medallion architecture, streaming data, batch processing, real-time analytics, and AI-ready data platform solutions.
• Ability to lead complex customer engagements with executive stakeholders, technical architects, engineering teams, and cross-functional delivery groups.
• Outstanding executive communication, stakeholder management, technical storytelling, and customer advisory skills.

Good-to-Have

• OCI Architect, OCI Data Engineer, OCI Data Scientist, Oracle AI, or related cloud certifications.
• Experience with LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, vector databases, AI agents, MLOps, and production Generative AI architectures.
• Experience leading multi-petabyte data modernization programs across globally distributed delivery teams.
• Industry expertise in Financial Services, Healthcare, Public Sector, Telecommunications, Manufacturing, Retail, or other enterprise-heavy sectors.
• Experience creating reusable engineering standards, migration playbooks, automation frameworks, reference architectures, and field enablement assets.
• Recognized thought leadership in cloud data engineering, AI platforms, enterprise architecture, or data transformation programs.
• Experience influencing product direction through customer advocacy, field feedback, and collaboration with product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, modernization, and delivery of enterprise-scale AI Data Platform transformation programs for strategic Oracle customers.
• Design and implement scalable data consolidation, integration, transformation, governance, lakehouse, streaming, real-time analytics, and AI-ready data architectures using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle AI Data Platform capabilities.
• Lead migrations from Databricks, Snowflake, Azure, AWS, hybrid, and on-premises environments to Oracle AI Data Platform, including workload assessment, Spark and ETL refactoring, optimization, and modernization.
• Serve as an executive technical advisor to CIOs, CDOs, CTOs, chief architects, and engineering leaders throughout customer engagements.
• Provide expert-level Apache Spark guidance across configuration, performance tuning, cluster sizing, partitioning, memory optimization, adaptive query execution, troubleshooting, and distributed systems performance.
• Build reusable migration accelerators, reference architectures, automation frameworks, implementation patterns, and delivery methodologies for Oracle CSS.
• Drive AI/ML and Generative AI data enablement, including data preparation pipelines, feature engineering, vector-ready datasets, governed data products, and production-grade AI platform foundations.
• Partner with Oracle Product Management and Engineering to share field insights, influence product roadmap priorities, and improve customer adoption outcomes.
• Mentor senior engineers, architects, and delivery teams globally while establishing engineering standards and technical excellence across Oracle CSS.
• Represent Oracle in executive briefings, architecture reviews, customer innovation workshops, and industry or customer-facing technical forums.
