Sr DevSecOps / Platform Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a DevSecOps Engineer who will facilitate the successful integration of tenant applications into a Kubernetes platform. You will ensure a seamless experience for internal and external application developers as they join the Kubernetes ecosystem. This position combines deep technical expertise in Kubernetes and containerization with strong communication and customer service skills, supporting a modern microservices-based architecture across cloud and on-premises environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes clusters to support microservices-based architectures in both cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Monitor and optimize Kubernetes clusters for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Implement security best practices to protect the integrity and confidentiality of the Kubernetes environment and tenant workloads.
  • Collaborate closely with application developers to understand their requirements and design Kubernetes solutions that meet their functional and non-functional needs.
  • Provide guidance, training, and best practices to platform tenants on effective and secure Kubernetes usage.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Kubernetes clusters, container orchestration, and containerized applications.
  • Develop and maintain automation and scripting to streamline deployment, configuration, and operational tasks within the Kubernetes platform.
  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and reliable application delivery to Kubernetes environments.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging tools, and trends in Kubernetes, containerization, and DevSecOps, and recommend improvements to the platform.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture by sharing knowledge, participating in design discussions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments (Openshift, Cloud/AKS, On Prem)
  • Strong kowledge of building and managing within OpenShift platform.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools, for example GitLab CI, to support automated build and deployment processes.
  • Understanding of cloud deployment concepts and experience operating workloads in cloud environments.
  • Ability to implement and maintain security best practices within Kubernetes and containerized environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with tenant teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand and translate application requirements into effective Kubernetes configurations and deployment strategies.
  • Must have at least an active DoD Secret Clearance and elgible for TS/SCI

Additional Skills & Qualifications / nice to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Kubernetes certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
  • Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem tools such as service meshes and GitOps or observability tools (for example Istio, Argo CD, Flux CD, Prometheus, or Rancher).
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Experience working with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • OpenShift certifications nice to have
  • Active TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in an innovative environment working with new and emerging technologies.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a collaborative mindset to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.

Work Environment

You will join a large, collaborative engineering organization of approximately 160 engineers working on a major program. In this role, you will be among the first engineers for this program in the Tampa area and will receive strong support from the broader team. The environment emphasizes camaraderie, innovation, and the delivery of new, cutting-edge technology solutions to customers, with a focus on all-new development rather than legacy maintenance. The team values close, positive relationships with their customers and offers clear opportunities for professional growth. This position follows a hybrid work model, with three days onsite and two days remote each week, providing a balance of in-person collaboration and flexible remote work. You will work with modern DevSecOps tooling, Kubernetes-based platforms, containerization technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployments in a professional engineering setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $95.00/hr.
