The Material Handler supports material flow, inventory control, asset movements, and lab logistics activities within a highly regulated production environment. This role is critical to maintaining organized laboratories, improving material availability, and supporting lab integration and asset management initiatives. The position involves frequent heavy lifting, hands-on work with materials and equipment, and close collaboration with warehouse and lab teams to ensure accurate and efficient handling of inventory and assets.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and move incoming materials from trucks and other delivery vehicles.
  • Stage materials in designated areas to support production, lab operations, and asset integration activities.
  • Support rack and equipment movement across laboratories and production areas, ensuring safe and efficient transport.
  • Manage inventory transactions using inventory management systems and RF scanners to maintain accurate records.
  • Support asset tagging and tracking activities to ensure proper identification and traceability of equipment and materials.
  • Organize storage locations to maximize space utilization and maintain orderly, easy-to-access inventory.
  • Assist with material requests and returns from internal teams, ensuring timely delivery and retrieval of items.
  • Support scrap and disposition activities by properly handling, segregating, and documenting materials for recycling or disposal.
  • Perform detrashing, recycling, and material preparation tasks as part of daily workflow.
  • Execute order picking, loading, packaging, and unloading tasks in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through regular counts, reconciliations, and careful documentation of material movements.
  • Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, in a safe and compliant manner when required.
  • Adhere to all safety, security, and ESD regulations, including proper use of smocks and ESD straps.
  • Perform heavy lifting throughout the shift, including repeatedly lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, production, and lab personnel to support lab integration and asset management initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds for the majority of the work shift.
  • Ability to safely move equipment and materials weighing 20 pounds or more in a controlled and secure environment.
  • Experience in warehouse, inventory, production, or material handling environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and RF scanners for tracking and processing inventory transactions.
  • Proficiency in loading and unloading trucks and handling materials safely and efficiently.
  • Experience with order picking, packaging, and unloading activities in a warehouse or production setting.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly storage locations and support accurate inventory control.
  • High attention to detail to ensure precise documentation, tagging, and tracking of materials and assets.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols in an ESD-regulated, high-security environment.
  • Basic forklift operation skills or willingness to learn and operate forklifts in accordance with safety standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Prior experience as a material handler or in a similar role involving detrashing, recycling, and material preparation.
  • Comfort working in roles that require heavy lifting for approximately 95% of the shift.
  • Experience working in inventory control or asset management functions is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures and working in controlled lab or production environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in warehouse, lab, and production settings.
  • Strong reliability and punctuality, with the ability to meet attendance expectations and support overtime when needed.

Work Environment

The role is physically demanding, with heavy lifting required for the majority of the shift and frequent movement of materials, racks, and equipment throughout the facility. Work is performed around warehouse and lab operations, using tools such as RF scanners and material handling equipment, in a setting that prioritizes safety, cleanliness, and controlled processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
