Job Description

The Material Handler performs a full range of shipping, receiving, and inventory control activities in a warehouse environment, ensuring accurate documentation, timely movement of goods, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role supports manufacturing operations by handling materials, finished goods, and returns, while maintaining inventory accuracy and efficient workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare shipping documents, instructions, and other required paperwork to coordinate domestic and international shipment and freighting of pumps, cartridges, and materials.
  • Pack and prepare company products and materials for shipping in accordance with customer requests and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of orders shipped, including documentation of weights and shipping charges.
  • Ensure all shipping documentation complies with governmental and regulatory agency requirements, including FDA-related guidelines where applicable.
  • Schedule and coordinate shipment deadlines with Customer Service to ensure shipments and freights arrive at the appropriate destination within the required timeline.
  • Operate and maintain computerized shipping systems and warehouse equipment such as a 100 lb. scale, 300 lb. hand truck, pallet jack, bubble pack dispenser, and bander.
  • Receive incoming materials, services, and supplies by unpacking and checking goods received against purchase orders or invoices.
  • Maintain records of received goods and reject unsatisfactory items, following established procedures for discrepancies.
  • Transfer approved materials into proper stockroom locations or deliver packages to internal customers in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate incoming shipments of goods authorized for return with Customer Service, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance.
  • Receive product from quarantine and production into finished goods, verify accuracy against shop orders or sterile processing logs, and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Examine stock levels and distribute materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines to support production needs.
  • Pull materials to support work orders and inventory requests, ensuring correct quantities and item identification.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and maintain 100% accuracy of all finished goods inventory.
  • Complete daily inventory data transactions in the ERP system and other inventory tools.
  • Provide timely and accurate feedback to inventory inquiries from internal stakeholders.
  • Use pallet jacks, forklifts, dollies, and automated shipping equipment such as FedEx systems to move and process materials safely.
  • Communicate primarily via email with coworkers and internal departments, responding in a timely manner while on shift.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory operations.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of shipping and receiving experience, including material handling in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with data entry in an ERP system for shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions.
  • Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment and familiarity with related documentation requirements.
  • Proficiency with pallet jacks, forklifts, dollies, and automated shipping equipment such as FedEx shipping systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain valid forklift certification in good standing.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory California driving record.
  • Good oral and written communication skills for coordinating with internal departments and documenting transactions.
  • Basic math skills for counting inventory, verifying quantities, and calculating weights and shipping charges.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a laid-back but high-performing warehouse team.
  • Demonstrated word processing and data entry skills, including accurate and timely use of computer systems.
  • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environments and procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis as part of material handling duties.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with international shipping processes and documentation.
  • Experience with inventory counting, cycle counts, and reconciliation of finished goods.
  • Knowledge of inventory picking and packing practices in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
  • Comfort working with computerized shipping systems and ERP platforms for inventory control.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a growing warehouse operation, including potential off-site facilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inventory transactions.
  • Reliability in meeting shipment deadlines and supporting production schedules.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.16 - $20.16/hr.
