Job Description

The 2nd Shift Material Handler plays a key role in supporting warehouse operations by safely moving materials, assisting with loading and unloading trucks, and preparing products for shipment. This entry-level position works in a fast-paced environment and focuses on accurate packaging, inventory handling, and basic data entry to ensure customers receive the correct products on time.

Responsibilities

  • Operate pallet jacks to move materials and products throughout the warehouse safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring materials are handled carefully and placed in the correct locations.
  • Support packaging and unpacking activities for units produced, including wrapping and unwrapping pallets as needed.
  • Place electronic components such as modems and controls into boxes accurately and securely to prepare them for shipment.
  • Use RF scanners to pick, pack, and verify shipments, maintaining accuracy in order fulfillment.
  • Perform general labor tasks within the distribution center, including material handling, production support, and warehouse shipping activities.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving functions, including staging, labeling, and organizing incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Use sit-down forklifts and other warehouse equipment, when required, to move and store inventory.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following warehouse safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Lift and move items up to 50 pounds regularly as part of daily warehouse operations.
  • Import basic data into the warehouse system when needed, using computers to update or confirm shipment and inventory information.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Take initiative to stay busy, identify tasks that need to be done, and support the team during peak periods in a fast-paced environment.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and demonstrate reliable attendance to support consistent warehouse operations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 months of warehouse experience.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
  • Experience using pallet jacks for material handling.
  • Experience with sit-down forklifts.
  • Basic familiarity with shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
  • Ability to use RF scanners for picking, packing, and inventory activities.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate packaging and shipment of customer orders.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to take initiative and remain productive without constant supervision.
  • Ability to understand and speak English sufficiently to follow instructions and communicate with the team.
  • Basic computer skills to import or enter data into warehouse systems when needed.
  • Comfort performing general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, picking, packing, and material handling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in shipping and receiving, including handling shipments and verifying orders.
  • Exposure to production or distribution center environments.
  • Experience with warehouse shipping activities such as loading, unloading trucks, and preparing pallets.
  • Familiarity with stand-up forklifts or other powered industrial equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to use electric pallet jacks or similar powered material handling equipment.
  • Experience working with packaging, wrapping, and unwrapping pallets.
  • Comfort working as part of a growing team and contributing to building processes from the ground up.

Work Environment

The role is based in a medium-sized warehouse operating on the 2nd shift, with hours from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The facility supports a growing team and offers the opportunity to be part of building the operation from scratch. Warehouse doors may be open during loading and unloading, so the temperature inside can vary, sometimes cooler or warmer depending on weather conditions. You work with pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, RF scanners, and basic computer systems as part of daily tasks. The environment is fast paced, with frequent material movement, packaging, and shipping activities, and requires appropriate warehouse attire suitable for physical work in changing temperatures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.63 - $18.63/hr.
