Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

This role involves setting up and operating precision pressing, punching, and stamping machinery to produce safety-critical burst disks in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment. The Machine Operator ensures consistent product quality, follows detailed Standard Operating Procedures, and maintains accurate production documentation while prioritizing safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Set up precision pressing, punching, and stamping machines to start production cycles according to established specifications and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Operate machinery to fabricate safety-critical burst disks, ensuring consistent output in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Control and adjust machine settings, such as speed and feed, to maintain optimal performance and meet production requirements.
  • Feed raw materials, metal strips, or blanks into semi-automated machines and ensure continuous material flow throughout the production process.
  • Handle and load metals and precious metals safely and efficiently, clearing scrap from the work area to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Use basic measurement tools, including calipers and micrometers, to verify that parts meet strict blueprint and engineering tolerances.
  • Monitor production output, identify defects or irregularities, and take corrective actions to maintain quality standards.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment and follow step-by-step Standard Operating Procedures to support a zero-accident safety culture.
  • Maintain clear manual or electronic production logs, including counts of finished pieces, scrap, and defects, and report results as required.
  • Assist with general production and assembly tasks related to machine-tended operations, as needed, to support overall workflow.
  • Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 35–50 pounds as part of daily machine operation and material handling duties.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in production, machine operation, or general manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience setting up machines to start production cycles in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to control and adjust machine settings, including speed and feed, to maintain proper operation.
  • Experience feeding raw materials or parts into semi-automated or automated machines.
  • Knowledge of metals and precious metals used in manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment.
  • Capability to use basic measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
  • Physical ability to lift and move 35–50 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and wearing all required personal protective equipment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining production counts, logs, and defect tracking.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with press machines, stamping machines, or similar precision equipment.
  • Experience in machine tending or general production support in a machine shop environment.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints or engineering drawings to understand dimensional requirements.
  • Comfort working with safety-critical components where quality and precision are essential.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability, including willingness to support overtime as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in a machine shop environment with extensive use of press machines and stamping machines dedicated to high-volume production of precision components. The standard shift is first shift, running from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Team members work around active machinery and are expected to follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Attleboro, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
