Machine Operator
Job Description
The Machinist I sets up and operates multiple production machines to manufacture precision components for demanding applications in aerospace and other industrial markets. This role works from detailed process documentation and blueprints, performs precise deburring and quality inspections, and ensures all parts meet strict dimensional and quality standards. The position also supports continuous improvement activities and contributes to a clean, safe, and organized machine shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Work from process sheets, blueprints, setup sheets, setup cards, Gemba boards, and both verbal and written instructions to produce precision components.
- Set up and operate multiple production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Make accurate adjustments to machine settings to meet specifications and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Visually detect burrs, sharp corners, and raised material and remove them accurately using manual tools such as files, deburring tools, Dremel tools, wire wheels, and scotch brite wheels.
- Perform deburring operations using machines such as grit blasters, tumbling machines, lathes, and other deburring equipment.
- Use calipers, micrometers, depth and height gauges, gauging and locating fixtures, and other fixed and universal gauging equipment, including specialized gauges and plug gauges.
- Use hand tools and manual machines as needed to complete machining and finishing operations.
- Set up and verify preset gauges for proper calibration as required.
- Inspect own work and the work of others to confirm correct dimensions and adherence to company quality and quantity standards.
- Complete and maintain all required documentation and quality records accurately and on time.
- Operate multiple machines and rotate between various department work centers as required.
- Enter production and quality data into the ERP system.
- Prepare and maintain quality records to support traceability and compliance requirements.
- Support Continuous Improvement and RBS activities by following standardized work and contributing ideas for process enhancements.
- Follow all quality and safety rules and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
- Troubleshoot and resolve various types of manufacturing issues related to machining, deburring, and inspection.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and departmental goals.
Essential Skills
- 1–2 years of experience with metal deburring in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Ability to perform quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Experience using deburring tools, files, Dremel tools, wire or scotch brite wheels, and related manual deburring equipment.
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers, depth and height gauges, gauging and locating fixtures, and other gauging equipment, including plug gauges.
- Capability to set up and verify preset gauges for proper calibration.
- Comfort operating multiple machines and rotating between different work centers.
- Ability to enter data accurately into an ERP system.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to visually detect burrs, sharp corners, and raised material.
- Commitment to following quality and safety rules and maintaining a clean work area.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- CNC operation experience, including setting up and running CNC mills or similar equipment.
- Experience performing quality inspection in a production or aerospace-related environment.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and participation in improvement activities.
- Comfort using hand tools and manual machines for machining and finishing operations.
- Experience working in aerospace manufacturing or other precision industrial markets.

This is a Permanent position based out of Twinsburg, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $52000.00/yr.
