Job Family: Software

Req ID: 509547

We are Siemens

Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.

Imagine shaping the experience of a leading physics simulation platform - bringing intuitive, client-side solutions to life across desktop and cloud. As a Java UI Developer, you’ll join our collaborative Java Framework team, contributing to Simcenter STAR-CCM+ by building and evolving the Java-based client infrastructure across API and UI layers, working in close partnership with our Core Framework colleagues.

You care deeply about clean, modular design, long-term maintainability, and user experience, and you’re confident suggesting improvements that elevate both code and collaboration. You’ll contribute thoughtfully to a shared codebase used by a global community of over 300 developers, balancing attention to detail with the confidence to evolve and enhance existing solutions.

If you’re energised by innovation, collaboration, and the opportunity to grow your impact in a supportive, diverse environment, we’d love to hear from you!

You'll make a difference by:

  • Designing, documenting and building robust, extensible software.
  • Implementing new features and refactoring existing code in Java client of Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues through tools like Jira, Confluence, Git and Bitbucket.
  • Joining forces with our UX and vertical teams to craft efficient user workflows.
  • Thriving with a modern IDE in a large, distributed environment.
  • Working together through peer-based design and code reviews.
  • Building and maintaining automated unit and integration tests.
  • Navigating an extensive code base: hundreds of modules and millions of lines.
  • Traveling occasionally to collaborate in person.

Your success is grounded in:

  • Degree or commensurate experience in computer science, engineering or mathematics with 3+ years of post-academic experience in software design and development.
  • Expertise in crafting client-server, desktop products for Linux and Windows.
  • Strong knowledge of the Java language, including modern features.
  • Experience developing Java clients in Swing/NetBeans (the framework, not the IDE) or a similar framework.
  • Application development with large-scale datasets and detailed performance and quality requirements.
  • Handling large, legacy code bases.
  • Using a distributed version control system such as Git.
  • Issue management using Jira or a comparable system.
  • Ability to communicate sophisticated technical issues clearly and concisely.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with developing a scientific or engineering software application.
  • Experience working in a distributed team across multiple time zones.
  • Programming in modern C++.
  • Programming web applications.
  • Expertise in Physics and Mathematics
