Process Engineer, Production Control

Tesla

What To Expect

The Production Control Process Engineer is a critical role within Tesla's manufacturing ecosystem, responsible for bridging the gap between operational execution and strategic process improvement. This individual will serve as the analytical backbone of the Production Control team — driving efficiency, reducing cost, and ensuring that material flow, inventory systems, and production processes operate at peak performance. This is not a passive role. We are looking for a self-driven engineer who is equally comfortable on the factory floor analyzing a material flow problem as they are in a conference room presenting data-driven recommendations to senior leadership. You will own projects end-to-end, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver measurable results that directly impact Tesla's ability to produce vehicles at scale.

What You'll Do

Analyze current Production Control workflows, material handling systems, and inventory processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and cost driverss

Develop and execute structured improvement projects using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, improve throughput, and optimize capacity

Conduct time and motion studies, value stream mapping, and process audits to establish performance baselines and track improvement progress

Develop and manage Plan for Every Part (PFEP) documentation in collaboration with Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams

Support the design and implementation of new production control processes for new model launches, line reconfigurations, and capacity expansions

Build and maintain advanced analytical tools, dashboards, and reporting frameworks using Excel, SQL, Tableau, or Python to provide real-time visibility into Production Control performance

Partner closely with Production, Operations, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, and Production Planning teams to align process improvement initiatives with broader business objectives

What You'll Bring

Degree in Engineering discipline, Engineering management, or equivalent experience

5 years of hands-on experiences in manufacturing environment is preferred

Outstanding critical thinking and communication skills, with a very high level of emotional intelligence, autonomy, and servant leadership

Innate ability to fully comprehend new processes and systems quickly, with high attention to detail

Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable process improvements in a high-volume manufacturing setting

Experience in industrial cost control, reporting, and financial analysis within a production environment
