Material Handler - 1st & Weekend Shifts - Sorrento Valley
Job Description
The Material Handler performs a full range of shipping, receiving, and inventory control duties in a warehouse environment, ensuring accurate movement of materials, compliance with regulatory requirements, and timely support of production and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Prepare documents, instructions, and other required paperwork to coordinate domestic and international shipping and freighting of pumps, cartridges, and related materials.
- Pack and prepare company products and materials for shipment in accordance with customer requests and specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of orders shipped, including documentation of weights and shipping charges.
- Ensure all shipping documentation complies with applicable governmental and regulatory agency requirements.
- Schedule and coordinate shipment deadlines with Customer Service so that shipments and freight arrive at the correct destination within the required timeline.
- Operate and maintain computerized shipping systems and warehouse equipment, including a 100 lb. scale, 300 lb. hand truck, pallet jack, bubble pack dispenser, and bander.
- Receive incoming materials, services, and supplies by unpacking and checking goods against purchase orders or invoices.
- Maintain records of received goods and reject unsatisfactory items in accordance with established procedures.
- Transfer approved materials into proper stockroom locations or deliver packages directly to internal customers.
- Coordinate incoming shipments of goods authorized for return with Customer Service, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance.
- Receive product from quarantine and production into finished goods, verify accuracy against shop orders or sterile processing logs, and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Examine stock levels and distribute materials from inventory to manufacturing lines as needed.
- Pull materials to support work orders and inventory requests, ensuring production has the required materials on time.
- Perform daily cycle counts and maintain 100% accuracy of all finished goods inventory.
- Execute daily inventory data transactions in the ERP system and provide timely feedback to inventory inquiries.
- Use pallet jacks, forklifts, dollies, and automated shipping equipment (such as FedEx systems) to move and process materials safely and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, primarily via email, and respond to messages in a timely manner during working hours.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory operations.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of shipping and receiving experience, including material handling in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with data entry in an ERP system for inventory and shipping transactions.
- Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment and familiarity with compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in using pallet jacks, forklifts, dollies, and automated shipping equipment such as FedEx shipping systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification in good standing.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory California driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Good oral and written communication skills for clear interaction with coworkers and documentation.
- Basic math skills for counting, weighing, and verifying quantities.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Demonstrated word processing and data entry skills for accurate recordkeeping.
- Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environments and procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with international shipping processes and documentation.
- Experience with inventory counting, picking, and packing in a warehouse setting.
- Comfort working with computerized shipping and ERP systems to manage orders and inventory.
- Ability to adapt to a growing operation, including supporting new off-site warehouse facilities.
- Strong attention to detail when verifying goods against purchase orders, shop orders, and sterile processing logs.
- Reliability in meeting shipping deadlines and supporting production schedules.
- Comfort communicating primarily via email and responding promptly during work hours.

Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse environment that supports manufacturing and distribution activities. The team maintains a casual dress code, with employees required to wear pants and steel-toed boots for safety. Most communication occurs through email, and while you are not expected to use email on your phone, you are expected to respond to coworkers promptly during work hours. The position follows a first-shift schedule from Tuesday to Friday, 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work involves regular use of pallet jacks, forklifts, dollies, scales, and automated shipping equipment, as well as handling and lifting materials up to 50 pounds in a GMP and FDA-regulated environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.16 - $20.16/hr.
