Job Description

This role focuses on operating forklifts and machinery in a plumbing supply warehouse to safely move, cut, and prepare pipe and related materials for customer orders. You handle both indoor and outdoor material movement, operate cutting and threading equipment, and support general labor tasks to keep the warehouse and stock yard running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sit-down forklifts and Combi lift equipment to move pipe and materials between the stock yard and warehouse or shop areas.
  • Handle material movement for lighter pipe, fittings, valves, and miscellaneous items stored on shelves inside the warehouse, as well as heavier pipe stored outside in the yard.
  • Operate a CNC plasma cutter to cut pipe to specified measurements, following work orders and customer requirements.
  • Thread pipes using designated machinery in the pipe cutting and threading area to prepare orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Use measurement tools to verify pipe lengths and dimensions before and after cutting to ensure precision and quality.
  • Perform general labor duties such as organizing materials, staging orders, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
  • Follow established safety procedures when operating forklifts, cutting equipment, and threading machines in both indoor and outdoor areas.
  • Support the small pipe cutting and threading area in the back corner of the warehouse by preparing materials, loading and unloading pipe, and assisting with workflow as needed.
  • Collaborate with warehouse team members to ensure timely movement of materials and completion of customer orders.
  • Inspect equipment and report any issues or maintenance needs to help maintain safe and reliable operations.

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability to operate forklifts, including sit-down forklifts and Combi lift equipment, in a warehouse or yard environment.
  • Experience with machine operation, specifically cutting and threading equipment used for pipe processing.
  • Competence in using measurement tools to accurately measure pipe and materials.
  • Background in general labor and material handling in an industrial or warehouse setting.
  • Ability to work safely in non-climate controlled environments, including outdoor stock yards.
  • Strong attention to detail when cutting, threading, and handling pipe to meet customer specifications.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and organizing materials throughout the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a plumbing supply or similar industrial warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with handling both lighter pipe, fittings, valves, and miscellaneous items on shelves and heavier pipe stored outside.
  • Comfort operating CNC plasma cutting equipment or similar automated cutting machinery.
  • Ability to adapt to varied tasks, including forklift operation, machine operation, and general labor responsibilities.
  • Willingness to work in a small, specialized area dedicated to pipe cutting and threading within the warehouse.
  • Basic understanding of safety practices related to material handling, forklift use, and machine operation.

Why Work Here?

You join a hands-on, operations-focused environment where your skills with forklifts and machinery directly support customers and day-to-day warehouse success. The role offers consistent, practical work with clear responsibilities and the opportunity to develop and refine material handling and machine operation skills. You work as part of a small, collaborative team that values reliability, safety, and efficient workflows.

Work Environment

The position is based in a plumbing supply warehouse and adjoining stock yard that is non-climate controlled and open air, which can be very hot during the summer. Inside the warehouse, you work among shelves stocked with lighter pipe, fittings, valves, and various materials, while outside you handle heavier pipe stored in the yard. A small area in the back corner of the warehouse is dedicated to pipe cutting and threading for customer orders, where you operate equipment such as a CNC plasma cutter and threading machines.
