Your role and responsibilities

Site Reliability Engineer, IBM Corporation, Austin, TX (Up to 80% telecommuting permitted):

  • Analyze business needs, determine problems, and advise on design and solutions.
  • Design, build, test, deploy and maintain well-engineered information systems and ecosystems.
  • Guide the application of functional objectives or technologies within the environment.
  • Use group dynamics to negotiate and define approaches and goals.
  • Solve complex functional problems with creativity and judgment and analyze situations and recommend solutions or develop new systems.
  • Contribute with technical and operational guidance to lead professional teams.
  • Manage special projects or departmental functions, either nationally or internationally.
  • Define and decide objectives within specified business concepts or projects and motivate team members outside the department to achieve objectives.
  • Oversee tools and assigned resources and ensure impact on departmental results and activities.
  • Lead multifunctional teams in activities subject to measurements, customer satisfaction, and project costs.
  • Participate in overall functional program planning.
  • Utilize: Routing Protocols, Switching Protocols, Agile Methodology, Software Defined Networking, Python, Network Monitoring Tools (Appneta, Oculus, Kentik, ThousandEyes, Grafana).

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related and two (2) years of experience as an Network Reliability Engineer or related. Two (2) years of experience must include utilizing Routing Protocols, Switching Protocols, Agile Methodology, Software Defined Networking, Python, Network Monitoring Tools (Appneta, Oculus, Kentik, ThousandEyes, Grafana). $174,345 to $210,000 per year. Full time. D190.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
