Job TitleSenior Database Administrator

The Purpose of This Role

Associate will be part of Data Operations COE group within Enterprise Data & AI Division that primarily provides DBA support for multiple RDBMS like Oracle, Oracle E-Business Suite, DB2, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server, RDS & Ec2 on AWS. In addition, this team is also responsible for Data Lake Operations on Cloud that supports Nifi (ELT Tool), Collibra Data Governance, Alation Data Catalogue Enterprise Tools & Platform Engineering (Informatica, Middleware), Data Masking (TDM) & Enterprise Snowflake Platform Support

Work closely with CST/ETGS BU’s in supporting their databases, ensuring stability, performance & help migrate them to public cloud as part of the organization data strategy by partnering with Product teams & Architects

Core duties include:

  • Partner closely with product development teams from the design phase through the full Agile development lifecycle, including future enhancements and production releases.
  • Actively participate in Agile squad ceremonies, including sprint planning, to understand product priorities, roadmaps, and delivery timelines.
  • Lead and support application stress and load testing, proactively identifying and resolving database performance bottlenecks (OLTP and batch) to ensure SLA compliance before production releases.
  • Proactively recommend and evangelize new database features and capabilities that can be leveraged by product teams for future enhancements.
  • Support database migrations and version upgrades as part of Technology Lifecycle Management, ensuring compliance with organizational and audit standards.
  • Perform database capacity planning and growth analysis, providing insights on future storage, compute, and hardware requirements based on data growth trends and performance metrics.
  • Identify aging and high-volume data and design, develop, and implement data archiving, purging, and partitioning strategies to efficiently manage database growth.
  • Manage and execute database and schema refreshes for lower (non-production) environments.
  • Define and implement backup, recovery, and restore strategies aligned with application RTO/RPO requirements.
  • Address and remediate database security audit findings, ensuring adherence to security, compliance, and governance standards.
  • Manage database users, access controls, roles, and privileges in line with least-privilege and compliance principles.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production database and SQL performance issues, ensuring high availability and system stability.
  • Provide 12x7 on-call support, collaborate with vendors on database-related issues and bugs, and drive issues to resolution.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate database maintenance activities with application and support teams to minimize operational impact.

Technical / Behavioral

  • Core Oracle DBA skills (Oracle 12c/19c), RAC & Data guard
  • Strong in Oracle Internals & DBA_ Dictionary views
  • Oracle DB/SQL Performance Tuning & relevant tools (SQLTRACE, TKPROF, AWR, ADDM, SQL PROFILE, SQL BASELINES)
  • Good understanding on Access Methods, Joins, different Indexes & its usage, Index scans, interpreting EXECUTION PLANS, Table/Index Statistics, Histograms, wait events etc
  • Working experience on Oracle Golden Gate for Data Replication, PostgresDB, Azure SQL MI & managing RDS/Databases on AWS
  • Strong on PL/SQL Programming
  • Working experience on Shell scripting for Automation
  • Problem solving and good analytical skills
  • Communication, teamwork and negotiation skills

The Skills those are good to have for this role

  • Knowledge of distributed databases like Yugabyte, Cockroach DB, etc
  • Experience on Snowflake Cloud Datawarehouse DB
  • Basic knowledge BI tools Tableau/PowerBI for reporting

The Expertise we’re looking for

  • 5 to 9 years of DBA (IT) experience
  • 2 + years of experience on Oracle DB/SQL Performance Tuning
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience on managing other databases like MS SQL Server, PostgresDB, Snowflake & cloud
  • Experience Automation skills using Shell scripting, Python etc
  • Bachelor’s degree in any technology related field (e.g, Engineering, Computer Science, Maths, etc.) required.
  • Oracle Certification or other RDBMS certifications
  • AWS/Azure/OCI cloud Certified
