Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

Join our team as a Mechanical Assembler and play a crucial role in the assembly of wind turbine power transmissions and their subassemblies. You will work from blueprints, parts lists, and assembly cards using parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, hand and power tools. Your tasks will include shimming and final assembly of gear units. You'll collaborate with other assemblers and oversee lower-grade assemblers, ensuring high-quality output.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about gear boxes and all components used in assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Gain knowledge of pinions, torque arms, ring gears, and elements of gear box production.
  • Operate an overhead crane to lift, hoist, and move gear boxes within the facility.
  • Disassemble gear boxes using torque wrenches or impact guns as needed.
  • Read and interpret gear box documentation and step-by-step instructions.
  • Locate and document serial numbers for each individual part during disassembly.
  • Wash parts to remove wax coating for corrosion protection.
  • Heat parts in an oven for assembly preparation.
  • Operate the overhead crane to position gear boxes for exterior housing attachment.
  • Perform customer-specific addon assembly using impact wrench.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working as an Assembler.
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools.
  • Basic math skills for explaining tool sizes and names.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to read blueprints and assembly documentation.
  • Understanding of mechanical assembly processes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.48 - $19.48/hr.
