Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling and installing equipment and components inside vans, including shelving units, ladder racks, foot runners, and partitions. You will use hand and power tools to build and pre-assemble cabinets and other structures by following diagrams and assembly instructions similar to those used for furniture assembly. The position runs on a daytime schedule with occasional Saturday work during peak order periods and requires strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working around vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and install ladder racks, foot runners, partitions, shelving units, and related components into vans.
• Pre-assemble shelving units, cabinets, and other structures according to diagrams and assembly instructions.
• Use hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, and drills to complete mechanical assembly tasks.
• Read and interpret diagrams and basic blueprints similar to those used for furniture assembly to ensure accurate installation.
• Measure and mark locations using a tape measure to align and position parts correctly.
• Perform general labor tasks related to mechanical assembly and production work as needed.
• Inspect completed assemblies for proper fit, alignment, and quality, and make adjustments when necessary.
• Work efficiently to meet production expectations and support high-volume orders, including occasional Saturday shifts.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment safely.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment provided on-site.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience with mechanical assembly or similar hands-on assembly work.
• Strong knowledge and practical use of hand and power tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, and drills.
• Ability to read and follow diagrams, basic blueprints, and assembly instructions similar to furniture assembly guides.
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure and perform precise measurements.
• Interest in vehicles and mechanic-type work.
• Capability to stand for the entire shift and perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, twisting, and squatting.
• Reliability to work a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. schedule Monday through Friday, with the flexibility to work some Saturdays during high-volume periods.
• Attention to detail to ensure proper fit and quality of assembled components.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and using personal protective equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in mechanical assembly, production, or general labor in a manufacturing or installation environment.
• Comfort working around vehicles and vehicle interiors.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to complete assembly projects.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new assembly processes and techniques.
• Ownership of basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers.

Work Environment

This is a non-climate-controlled production and assembly environment focused on outfitting vans with interior components. The standard schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts during periods of high order volume. Work is physically active and performed on your feet throughout the day, involving lifting, bending, twisting, and squatting. You will regularly use hand and power tools, tape measures, and basic mechanical equipment. The dress code requires steel-toe footwear, jeans or work pants, and a work shirt. Eye and ear protection, as well as gloves, are provided on-site, while you are expected to bring your own basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wentzville, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
