Industrial Sewing Machine Operator (Furniture Manufacturing)
Location: Greensboro, NC
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Status: Temp-to-Hire
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Sewing Machine Operator to join a furniture manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience sewing upholstery materials and using industrial sewing machines to produce high-quality furniture components.
Responsibilities
- Operate industrial sewing machines to sew upholstery fabrics, vinyl, and leather
- Assemble and sew cushions, seat covers, backs, arms, and other furniture components
- Read work orders and follow production specifications
- Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and consistency
- Measure, trim, and prepare materials before sewing
- Perform basic machine maintenance and report equipment issues
- Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality standards
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Follow all company safety procedures
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating industrial sewing machines is required
- Furniture upholstery sewing experience required
- Welting (piping) experience is a plus
- Ability to work with a variety of fabrics, vinyl, and leather
- Ability to read measuring tapes and follow production instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Dependable with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Frequent repetitive use of hands and arms
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Good vision and manual dexterity
- Ability to meet production goals while maintaining quality standards
