Description

PURPOSE: We are actively hiring a mid level Java Developer to join a small, high impact engineering team at a key inflection point, focused on modernizing legacy systems and accelerating the shift to microservices. This role is critical in helping reduce technical debt from an existing monolith while also contributing to the development of new APIs and services that support core business functionality. The need is urgent, with interviews starting right away. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, support, and troubleshoot microservices using Java and Spring Boot 3/4 Build and consume RESTful APIs, adhering to best practices and standards Collaborate with the DevOps team to deploy applications in Kubernetes environments Leverage observability tools for application monitoring and logging Contribute to building and maintaining event-driven architectures (e.g., using messaging queues) Document and expose APIs using tools like Swagger/OpenAPI Work with API gateways to manage and secure API traffic Implement and support OAuth for secure authentication and authorization Learn and adapt to new tools and technologies as needed EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required Skills: Proficiency in Java Experience with Spring Boot and building RESTful web services Experience using Git for source control Familiarity with Kubernetes or container orchestration tools Understanding of microservices architecture Exposure to observability platforms (Datadog, Splunk, ELK, etc.) Knowledge of event-driven systems and message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) Experience with API documentation tools like Swagger/OpenAPI Understanding of API Gateways and OAuth concepts PREFERRED SKILLS: Hands on experience with AWS cloud architecture and development using AWS resources like S3, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, etc Building Spring apps utilizing both SQL and NoSQL Databases (Mongo, DynamoDB, SQL Server, Postgres, etc..) Nice to Have: Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure JavaScript Python EDUCATION: College Degree required. Minimum 3 years of work experience.

Core technologies: - Java - Spring Boot - Kubernetes (on-premises) - MongoDB - Kafka (preferred/bonus) - HTTP/API development - Current work focuses on building and maintaining Java APIs that act as a proxy/integration layer between systems. - Team is modernizing a JBoss monolith and transitioning toward a microservices architecture. - AWS experience is a plus, as there have been discussions around a future cloud migration.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
