Job Title: Machine Operator – Wire EDM

Job Description

This role focuses on setting up, operating, and troubleshooting Wire EDM machines in a production environment. You will run Sodik Wire EDM equipment, interpret blueprints, perform precise measurements, and complete standard machine maintenance while managing multiple machines to meet quality and production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Wire EDM machines to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Run Sodik Wire EDM machines efficiently and safely in a production setting.
  • Make minor program changes to M and G code as needed to optimize machining operations.
  • Adjust and change tooling as required to maintain part quality and machine performance.
  • Run multiple machines simultaneously while monitoring performance and ensuring consistent output.
  • Read and work from blueprints to produce parts to specification.
  • Use general measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to verify part dimensions and quality.
  • Perform standard machine maintenance to keep equipment in proper working condition.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to address issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement efforts.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience setting up and running EDM machines or a minimum 3–5 years of experience setting up and running CNC lathes and mills.
  • Hands-on experience operating Sodik Wire EDM machines.
  • Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and gauges for precision measurement.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience with CNC machining and set up, including CNC mills and lathes.
  • Capability to make minor edits to M and G code programs.
  • Strong machine setup skills and understanding of tooling changes.
  • Ability to perform standard machine maintenance tasks.
  • Comfort working independently in a production environment while managing multiple machines.

  • Familiarity with CNC machining processes and set up for mills and lathes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.

  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with machines, programs, and tooling.

Work Environment

This position is in a climate-controlled production setting where you will primarily work independently while managing your machines and tasks. The role follows a second-shift schedule: Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 12:15 AM, and Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the possibility of working a full 8-hour shift on Fridays if mandatory overtime is required. You will work with Sodik Wire EDM machines and standard precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, in a structured manufacturing environment focused on quality and efficiency.

This is a Permanent position based out of Rochester, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
