Job Title: Sr DevOps Engineer & Infrastructure Lead (5G R&D)

Job Description

This role leads the design, implementation, and management of end-to-end DevOps strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure that power advanced 5G R&D and wireless solutions. You will work in a global, intrapreneurial team, driving applied research and advanced engineering to build innovative 5G technologies from the ground up, assess competition, and contribute to intellectual property. As the primary owner of DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure operations, you will champion automation, support development teams, and manage both on-premise and cloud-based environments to ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, scale, and maintain high-availability Kubernetes clusters to support 5G and infrastructure software.
  • Drive containerization and orchestration strategies using Kubernetes and Docker to support scalable, resilient services.
  • Own the automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and network management across development, test, and production environments using Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Ensure environment consistency, security compliance, and optimal resource utilization across all development and deployment infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, declarative CI/CD pipelines to support 5G development teams from code commit through deployment.
  • Administer and configure CI/CD platforms, including pipeline management and integration with GitHub and other development tools.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain automation scripts in Groovy, Python, and Shell/Bash to streamline build, test, and release workflows.
  • Automate integration, regression testing, and deployment verification processes to improve release speed, quality, and reliability.
  • Design and maintain a robust logging, monitoring, and alerting architecture using the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana).
  • Configure system and application logs, build performance dashboards, and set up proactive alerting to quickly identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Lead the DevOps team by defining technical solutions, overseeing implementation, and ensuring timely delivery of 5G and infrastructure software projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers on DevOps best practices, Git workflows, and integration pipelines.
  • Review and create technical design documents for 5G software and infrastructure components, and contribute to unit testing strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with global product, development, and QA teams to align DevOps practices with overall product and engineering goals.
  • Contribute to platform reliability engineering and design release processes for embedded and cloud-based software solutions.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience managing complex, end-to-end DevOps cycles, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure environments.
  • Proven, hands-on expertise in managing and scaling Kubernetes (K8s) clusters and Docker-based containerized workloads.
  • Deep expertise in CI/CD administration, configuration, and declarative pipeline design and management.
  • Exceptional scripting skills in Groovy for CI/CD shared libraries and pipeline customization.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills in Python for automation and tooling.
  • Advanced Shell and Bash scripting experience for task automation and environment management.
  • Solid experience setting up, configuring, and maintaining the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for centralized log analysis and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps practices, infrastructure automation, and platform reliability engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub for source control and integration into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with containerized application deployment and infrastructure in both on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Practical experience with pipeline management and automation for build, test, and release processes.
  • Experience working with tools such as Jira (or similar) for issue tracking and project coordination.
  • Experience in supporting embedded software and cloud-based solutions within a DevOps environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a Sr DevOps or infrastructure lead role within R&D or advanced engineering environments.
  • Exposure to 5G, wireless solutions, or telecommunications-related software development.
  • Experience contributing to design documents and unit testing strategies for complex software systems.
  • Familiarity with global, cross-functional collaboration across product, development, and QA teams.
  • Experience in platform reliability engineering and design release processes.
  • Nice to have: 5–10 years of overall experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or related engineering roles.
  • Experience working in highly innovative, intrapreneurial teams focused on building new technologies from the ground up.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role, working 5 days per week in a collaborative engineering environment. You will operate within a global team focused on 5G R&D and advanced wireless solutions, using modern DevOps tools and practices. The technology stack includes Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub, CI/CD platforms with declarative pipelines, Groovy, Python, Shell/Bash, the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), and tools such as Jira for issue tracking and coordination. The environment emphasizes automation, high availability, scalability, and reliability of both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure, with close collaboration between DevOps, development, product, and QA team.
