Primary Function of the Position
Material Handler 3 is an advanced position requiring significant experience in warehousing operations, exceptional technical skills (equipment operation, counting, space utilization, handling efficiency), and in-depth knowledge of inventory management systems and Microsoft applications. The job entails becoming an SME in all warehouse processes as well as being able to take on special projects, suggesting improvements to increase productivity and efficiency, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Essential Job Duties
This position will fulfill the following roles (If applicable to the site):
- Shipping: Verifies, checks, validates outgoing material to make sure labels, packing slips, BOL’s other shipping documents and serial numbers are done, attached, and processed according to work instructions
- Kitting: Utilize the Production work orders process to put together kits.
- Receiving: Receiving materials, physically and systemically, to be used in production operations and engineering projects.
- Parts Put-away: Physically moving approved Production materials from Quality staging areas into warehouse storage locations.
- Warehouse
- Point-of-use parts replenishment, for designated production lines.
- Maintain, report, and drive POs for cross-divisional and other locations replenishment process.
- Parts Replenishment: Parts replenishment for designated production lines. Follow First-in, First-out (FIFO) when putting away, picking, and replenishing material.
- MT: Fulfilling and transacting MT requests received either electronically or via hard copy.
- Sales Order Fulfillment: Fulfilling and transacting Sales Orders
- STO: Process approved Stock Transfer Orders
- Pack Out: Packing finished assemblies and materials from other departments for shipping.
- Inventory Control: Understand the full flow of the material within stockroom locations. Participate in Cycle Count, Physical Inventories, and reconciliation activities in coordination with the Supervisor/Material Handler Lead; conduct material audits and parts verification; and evaluate bin capacity and consolidations to increase storage capacity. Maintain various SOX compliance audit records and suggest improvements to warehouse efficiency.
- Ensure the business unit is always audit-ready.
- Responsible for complying with general Good Warehouse Practices (GWP) and Warehouse housekeeping processes.
- Proficient at performing systemic transactions in warehouse management systems.
- Assist in data collection in combination with the warehousing team for KPI’s.
- Previous working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kanban processes is a plus.
- Maintain warehouse safety in accordance with 5S principles.
- Communicating verbally and via email the status of material movements and transactions to appropriate internal customers.
- Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement program, including the creation and implementation of small-scale improvements.
- Able to locate and count parts accurately (using cycle-count documents), and complete required documentation.
- Able to effectively apply knowledge of material flow and warehousing principles to Material Handling assignments (FIFO, consolidation, lean principles).
- Must be able to use dollies, carts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move items around.
- Inspect equipment prior to use and immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment or safety hazards.
