Role Number:200669008

Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other’s ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It’s the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Here, you’ll do more than join something — you’ll add something. Our team builds the user-facing experiences that bring personalized intelligence to iOS. We craft the surfaces millions of customers see every day — from how notifications are summarized, to which widgets surface in smart stacks, to predicting what app you'll launch next. We're looking for a software engineer to help turn privacy-preserving, on-device intelligence into experiences that feel intuitive, transparent, and delightful. This is an opportunity to shape how personalization shows up across iOS while upholding Apple's commitments to privacy and user agency.

Description

You will work alongside ML engineers, designers, and privacy engineers to design, prototype, and ship UI features that make personalization feel effortless. You will write production code in Swift and Objective-C, build prototypes that turn ambiguous concepts into something tangible, and contribute to the frameworks that other Apple teams build on top of. You will balance technical innovation with human-centered design, advocating for quality and clarity in features that touch millions of customers daily. Some of the areas you will be responsible for will include: Design, build, and ship UI features for system-level personalization across iOS Prototype rapidly to explore how on-device ML can power new customer experiences Partner closely with design, ML, and privacy engineering to take features from concept to production Extend and improve the UI frameworks the team owns, with attention to performance and power Contribute to architectural decisions and code reviews that raise the quality bar for the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — or 4+ years of equivalent practical experience
  • Deep knowledge of Swift and/or Objective-C
  • Experience building and shipping iOS or other Apple-platform applications
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals and software engineering best practices
  • Experience working in resource-constrained environments and reasoning about performance tradeoffs across memory, CPU, and I/O
  • Ability to work effectively in large, complex codebases

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of shipping high-quality, customer-facing UI features at scale
  • Experience with UI prototyping and rapid iteration on early-stage product concepts
  • Familiarity with on-device machine learning, generative models, or large language models
  • Experience with SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern iOS UI and animation patterns
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and translating unclear product direction into shipped features
  • Strong cross-disciplinary collaboration skills, especially with design, ML, and privacy partners
  • Deep care for customer experience and a track record of advocating for quality and clarity in human-facing features.
