In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting FutureNow Centers, where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

Want to build the pipelines that ship real software to real users? As a Junior DevOps Engineer at IBM Consulting, you will be right in the middle of it: automating deployments, shaping infrastructure and making sure things actually run in production. You will work closely with development, operations and security teams in an agile setup where your input matters from day one. We deliver strategic projects for clients across Europe and around the world. Junior or not, the work is real. We care about growth and we will invest in yours.

In line with applicable pay transparency requirements, we are sharing the starting annual base pay (gross per year).

This amount is the starting pay for the position, based on a full-time schedule over a full calendar year. The final offer may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience, as permitted under applicable local law.

Required technical and professional expertise

Key Requirements

  • CI/CD is not new to you: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Tekton or Bitbucket
  • SonarQube or similar code quality tools: either hands-on already or ready to learn
  • You understand how release processes and deployment automation work in agile environments
  • Terraform or Ansible: some hands-on time already or genuine excitement to start
  • GitOps rings a bell and you want to go deeper
  • You’re comfortable with Docker and Kubernetes, with some exposure to Helm charts
  • You’re not scared of networking concepts and Service Mesh patterns
  • Monitoring is on your radar: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Instana, Dynatrace or similar
  • You have some exposure to relational or NoSQL databases
  • You can script in Bash or PowerShell and read your way through Python or Java code
  • You understand the basics of IAM, secrets management, encryption and certificate handling
  • Agile environments are familiar territory: Scrum or Kanban
  • You know your way around Linux and/or Windows administration

Soft Skills

  • You work well with others: developers, QA, operations, security. Cross-functional and Cross-Culture is the norm here with a team across the globe
  • When something breaks in production, you dig in instead of stepping back
  • You explain technical things clearly, whether talking to a developer or a client stakeholder
  • You spot things that could run better and say it out loud. We like that.
  • The tech landscape shifts fast. You are curious enough to keep up and excited enough to enjoy it.

Required Professional and Technical Expertise

  • Jira and Confluence are part of your toolkit (or similar tools)
  • Some exposure to middleware or integration solutions
  • You’re familiar with how major cloud platforms work: AWS, Azure or GCP
  • ITIL or similar operational frameworks ring a bell

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Experience with cloud computing, application migration or DevOps practices
  • Hands-on experience automating infrastructure, testing or deployment tasks
  • Contributions to open-source projects or active use of open-source tooling
  • German language skills are a plus in our multilingual project environment
