Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Description

This Systems Engineer role focuses on applying disciplined systems engineering practices across the full product lifecycle of advanced propulsion systems. You will collaborate closely with hardware development teams, program functions, directorates, and suppliers to develop, integrate, and verify complex engine systems and to plan and execute current and future changes to the product baseline. The position plays a key role in leading digital transformation initiatives, advancing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, and supporting the development of systems engineering models. You will help define and maintain engine architectures, manage requirements, and support integration activities that keep the organization at the cutting edge of small turbine engine technology, with strong opportunities for long-term growth as new programs are introduced.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hardware development teams, program functions, directorates, and suppliers to apply disciplined systems engineering practices across product baseline development, integration, and verification.
  • Plan and execute current and future changes to the propulsion system product baseline in coordination with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives that modernize systems engineering practices and tools.
  • Contribute to the development, refinement, and deployment of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of systems engineering models to perform analysis, design, and verification tasks.
  • Analyze, decompose, allocate, and validate stakeholder needs and input requirements, including engine interfaces and verification planning.
  • Define and maintain engine logical and physical architectures throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop lower-level interface requirements to integrate the propulsion system design across the engine, modules, systems, and components.
  • Coordinate integration across engineering disciplines, module technical teams, and external customers to ensure cohesive system performance.
  • Provide engineering support throughout the complete engine product life cycle, from concept and design through testing and sustainment.
  • Process and manage outgoing propulsion system requirements to ensure they are complete, consistent, and traceable.
  • Support the development, configuration, and release of content requirements, ensuring alignment with program milestones.
  • Coordinate key integration milestones and handoffs between teams to maintain schedule and technical integrity.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand engine and air vehicle operations and incorporate operational needs into system designs.
  • Support engine and flight testing activities as needed, including preparation, execution support, and data review.
  • Lead customer and internal technical reviews throughout the product lifecycle, presenting technical content and status to stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Professional engineering experience in systems engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in aerospace or propulsion systems, particularly with engine or air vehicle programs.
  • Hands-on experience with system integration across engines, modules, systems, and components.
  • Strong knowledge in requirements building, including decomposition and allocation of stakeholder needs.
  • Experience with requirements validation and verification, including planning, execution, and documentation.
  • Ability to define and maintain logical and physical architectures for complex systems.
  • Experience processing and managing system-level and propulsion system requirements.
  • Proficiency in documenting requirements and maintaining configuration control throughout the lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Cameo or similar modeling tools for systems engineering and MBSE.
  • Ability to lead technical reviews and communicate complex technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with DO-160, DO-254, or MIL-STD-810 standards.
  • Proficiency with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, JAMA, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices and implementation.
  • Experience using MBSE tools such as SysML Rhapsody, Cameo/MagicDraw, Vitech CORE/GENESYS, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter for product lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Siemens NX or similar CAD tools.
  • Experience using project and workflow management tools such as MS Project or Jira.
  • Interest in contributing to digital transformation initiatives within engineering organizations.
  • Motivation to grow with a rapidly expanding engineering team and support multiple new programs over time.
  • Must be able to work in an ITAR and Eligible for a DoD Security Clearance

Work Environment

The role is based in a combined office and laboratory environment, providing exposure to both design activities and hands-on engineering work. You will work at a site with over 200 professionals, the majority of whom are engineers, fostering a highly technical and collaborative culture. The organization operates at the cutting edge of small turbine engine development, with new programs being added regularly, creating a dynamic and growth-oriented setting. The work environment emphasizes modern engineering tools, digital transformation, and MBSE practices, offering opportunities to participate in engine and flight testing and to engage closely with multidisciplinary teams across the full product lifecycle.
