Job Description

The Structures Technician will perform structural modifications and installations on UH-60 aircraft in support of a Foreign Military Sales government program. This role focuses on integrating autopilot systems and glass cockpit components, completing high-quality sheet metal and airframe work in a hangar environment on a long-term contract with potential for direct hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural modifications and installations on UH-60 aircraft in support of a Foreign Military Sales program.
  • Install and integrate autopilot systems and glass cockpit components into existing aircraft structures.
  • Carry out sheet metal fabrication, repair, and replacement on aircraft structures and airframes.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation to complete modifications and repairs accurately.
  • Use appropriate aircraft sheet metal tools and equipment to cut, bend, form, and fasten structural components.
  • Inspect existing structures to determine repair requirements and ensure structural integrity after modifications.
  • Perform structural repairs on aircraft, including drilling, riveting, and fitting of structural parts and assemblies.
  • Follow established procedures and standards for aircraft modification, installation, and structural repair work.
  • Maintain and use personally owned tools in a safe and organized manner while working on aircraft.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and teams in the hangar to coordinate modification and installation activities.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, quality standards, and regulatory requirements while working on aircraft structures.

Essential Skills

  • Aircraft structures experience, strongly preferring 5+ years of hands-on structural work.
  • Proven experience performing aircraft modification and installation tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Experience in aircraft sheet metal work, including repair and fabrication.
  • Experience working with airframe structures and structural repairs.
  • Capability to perform structural work on helicopters or other aircraft platforms.
  • Proficiency with aircraft sheet metal tools and equipment.
  • Must provide own tools or be willing to obtain them.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with rotary wing aircraft is preferred, especially on platforms similar to UH-60.
  • Experience with helicopter structural repair and modification is advantageous.
  • Previous experience installing avionics-related structures, such as autopilot and glass cockpit components, is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with working in a hangar environment on long-term modification programs is a plus

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $36.00/hr.
