Job Overview

Qualcomm is seeking a passionate and hands-on Camera AI Engineer to join our AI Software team in China. You will work with Qualcomm’s IoT camera customers— to deliver Camera AI features and resolve technical issues across the full product lifecycle, from prototype through mass production.

The role is grounded in Qualcomm’s AI technology stack: Snapdragon IoT SoCs, the Hexagon DSP (HTP/HVX), Adreno GPU, and Qualcomm’s AI software and SDKs including QAIRT (Qualcomm AI Runtime SDK), and the CAMX camera framework. You will leverage these tools to bring deep learning-based imaging capabilities to production-grade embedded camera systems.

You will collaborate closely with Qualcomm’s hardware, AI model, SDK, ISP, tuning, and customer engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-quality imaging solutions from chipset development through customer commercialization.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical interface for Camera AI feature development and issue resolution for Qualcomm IoT camera customers.
• Develop and integrate Camera AI features on Qualcomm Snapdragon IoT platforms using the QAIRT (Qualcomm AI Runtime SDK) and related Qualcomm AI tools.
• Deploy and optimize deep learning models (enhancement, detection, segmentation, ISP features) on Qualcomm Hexagon DSP (HTP/HVX) and Adreno GPU accelerators.
• Integrate AI inference pipelines into the Qualcomm CAMX camera framework and ISP processing stages for real-time embedded execution.
• Investigate and resolve customer-reported AI inference and image quality issues; deliver timely root cause analysis, workarounds, and permanent fixes.
• Optimize model performance for Qualcomm hardware: apply quantization, memory layout tuning, and hardware-aware design to meet latency, memory, and power targets.
• Collaborate with Qualcomm model, framework, and SDK teams to align hardware-aware AI solutions with sensor, ISP, and SoC capabilities.
• Implement and optimize computer vision and image processing pipelines for real-time execution on Qualcomm-based IoT devices.
• Work across embedded OS layers: processes, threads, memory management, scheduling, and IPC mechanisms within complex camera system architectures.
• Participate actively in Software Development Life Cycle: customer requirement analysis, design reviews, development, testing, integration, debugging, and performance tuning.

Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in embedded AI or camera system development on IoT, mobile, or real-time embedded platforms.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python; skilled in performance-critical, system-level programming on embedded hardware.
• Hands-on experience with Qualcomm AI SDK — QAIRT (Qualcomm AI Runtime SDK), or Hexagon SDK — is a strong plus.
• Experience deploying and optimizing deep learning models on Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms using Hexagon DSP (HTP/HVX) or Adreno GPU.
• Familiarity with Qualcomm camera framework (CAMX) or ISP pipeline integration on Snapdragon SoCs.
• Knowledge of deep learning model optimization techniques: quantization (INT8/FP16), pruning, and hardware-aware model design.
• Solid understanding of computer vision and imaging algorithms: enhancement, detection, segmentation, and ISP-related AI features.
• Understanding of embedded OS concepts: multi-threading, memory management, scheduling, and IPC mechanisms.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills for AI inference performance, image quality, stability, and scalability issues on real hardware.
• Customer-facing support experience is a plus; able to communicate technical root causes and solutions clearly to engineering and product teams.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.

Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
